Great location -perfect for our 1st family reunion

  • 5 of 5

I cannot say enough positive things. This was our first ever renting a vacation home and it was a great experience from beginning to end. To start, communication with the owners was fantastic: quick, complete, honest and exactly as described. I have to admit my first thought was "this is too good to be true" - but it wasn't. It was good and true. The house had all the amenities of a hotel room right down to bar soap, shampoos, full kitchen and all bedding and linens. It was clean and well maintained. Wallace as a town was fun, clean and safe and it was close to Lake Coeur d'Alene (45 minutes) and other attractions. We fit all 9 of us easily with more space if we needed it.

We would highly recommend it to anyone looking in the area! Thanks to the Seeleys for making our first try at vacation homes a huge success!

Right in town and with lots of room

  • 5 of 5

Even though it was a one night stand, we enjoyed this house much more than motel rooms. It is a block from 'downtown' and so easy to walk to restaurants, the brewery and shops (if so inclined). We also stretched our legs walking up the nearby slope exploring the neighborhood. It is an old house with character, large rooms, well kept and equipped. But if don't like funky, it is not for you. A couple of things were sticky and required coaxing, but we made them work. I would have given it just 4 Stars based on quality, but given the price, friendly hosts and the space available, it is a great value, so this house gets an extra Star.

Bicycling Paradise and Living History in Wallace, Idaho

  • 5 of 5

As luck would have it we arrived in Wallace in time for the Huckleberry Festival, and the Dobson Wheelhouse is right in character for this small town celebration. It’s old, it’s creaky, the drawers stick, the light switches are all in the wrong place, the cupboards are too high, and on and on and on… But, HEY! The house was built in the 1920’s! We LOVED it! We hope the Seeley's don’t change any of that, or we might as well stay at a cookie-cutter new condo somewhere. Thank you for taking us back to an earlier time. We really appreciate the small town atmosphere, the friendliness of the people and the ability to walk without fear anyplace in this sweet little town! If I remember right, Idaho is the Gem State and this little house in Wallace is an old, but sparkling little diamond in the rough! Don't miss it !

And while you're visiting Wallace be sure to have a meal at the 1313 Club or the Red Light Garage. Around the corner from the house, the Sierra Silver Mine tour gave me a new appreciation and admiration for my dad who used to work underground at the Sunshine Mine. Walk around town and peek into the many interesting little shops, and don't miss seeing an Old Time Melodrama at the 6th Street Theater! There's so much to do that you'd better plan to spend a week! Brink your bikes and ride the Coeur d'Alene Trail which goes right through Wallace, and then drive on up I-90 to Lookout Pass to ride the Hiawatha Trail. This is bicycling paradise!

Do some research before you come. Wallace is known for the fact that every downtown building is on the National Register of Historic Places, which is why the government had to go over the town instead of through it in order to complete the Interstate. In the local mining museum there lies in state the very last stoplight on Interstate 90 from west to east coast! I guess they had a pretty nice celebration with pallbearers and a coffin to take that last light to it's final resting place. Oh, and there's lots more! You've just gotta come and see it all by staying at the Dobson Wheelhouse!

Great base for Idaho adventures

  • 5 of 5

We spent five nights at the Wheelhouse and found it the perfect base for our family biking adventures in the Silver Valley. The house was very clean and generously provisioned. We appreciated the comfortable furnishings, especially the good beds. Wallace's restaurants, museums, stores, and public pool are minutes away on foot. We did not need a car to do anything around town. The owners were great to work with. We hope to come back again and bring friends -- the house would be great for a group or extended family.

PERFECT Location, PERFECT House

  • 5 of 5

I can't say enough about how great this place is. It was our first experience doing a vacation rental so we were a little nervous.

We had 4 couples staying in the house and there was plenty of space for us. The kitchen was well stocked and the place was very clean. This location was perfect for our bike trip as its easy access to trails (the Hiawatha is a MUST if you are in the area) and its right in town so we could walk to dinner.

Also the mine tour in town was pretty interesting.

We will be back for sure!
