This is quite simply one of the most modern luxury villas in the region and is the perfect place for you your family and friends to sit back and enjoy the very heart of the North of Portugal and the Douro Valley
Spent the half term holidays with my wife and kids. I've been to the Douro before and stayed in another villa close by (p1908618) but it was fully booked so paid a little extra for this house recommended by the other owner. Well, I'm glad we booked - the jacuzzi in the cooler months was fabulous.
During the day we were luck as the temperatures were around 27 degrees but dropped to around 12 at night. So the pool was ok to swim in after lunch when it had warmed a little
We always go to Pinhao which is the local villa 5 minutes away and also we like to visit the big winery with amaing ports. they do a walking tour which is great when the weather is nice
the owner organised a private boat tour with 'picnic style lunch' on board which was fab and delicious
We did a day trip by train to Porto - it was a long day but worth it.
There are several great restuarants n Pinhao and withing 15 minutes of there too
The luxury and attention to detail of the villa were first class - and the freshly made breakfast ( yes just like the pictures!) was amazing and the housekeeper looked after us all and was very kind with our kids and when i say kind i mean in a genuine sincere way
I am a huge fan of Portugal but I am especially loving the North
Thanks to Eugenia ( thinks thats the right spelling) - amazing
completely blown away by this amazing house - great views - beautfully decorated - super attention to detail
nearby is pinhao which has some good restaruants -- try douro vela - and good cafe and bakery
train station is soo cute with hand painted tiles - train goes to porto
eugenia the housekeeper arranged with us every day to come make our breakfast ( which was ample and delicious) - one morning we did a day trip and asked her to come at 7.30 am - no problem
a superb holiday and so taken with the north of portugal
We did not see any reviews for this house but then read them on Trip Advisor - this gave us the confidence to book - but I see now the owners have put a video of the house on this website and well I can tell you it's just like in the video - in fact it's actually even better in real life.
We travelled by car from Lisbon but we flew out from
From Lisbon it was an easy 2.5hr trip but to Porto it took only just over an hour
The house as you can see for yourself in the video is luxurious, private and has breathtaking views
But the actual feel of the place is something you can not capture in a video and for us having our breakfast prepared for us by Eugenia the housekeeper and those views was just bliss!!
Locally there was plenty to do and eugenia was a mine of local info - Fernando also organise boat trips - winery visits and even a picnic at a little house with views of the river Douro (the same one as in the video) - the picnic food was all home made and delicious and soooo reasonable - which in fact is very much the underlying message about the north of Portugal - be ware the portion sizes are huge - order a 'maia doz' - half portion - it's enough for one and sometimes enough for two! The prices and quality of food and wine is superb
Can't speak highly enough of the house and the local area - great holiday and great service - thank you eugenia and Fernando
