Aravis Alpine Retreat is a stunning chalet built in the quiet hamlet of Les Lombardes. Nestled within the Aravis Mountains of the French Alps, the chalet is located next to the quaint and traditional ski village La Clusaz.

With a great diversity of activities on your doorstep there truly is something for everyone in this year round playground. The chalet is available to rent on a 24 hour basis (72 hour minimum) on a self catering basis.

Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, Winter in La Clusaz offers skiing for all abilities. A chance to up your game with friendly ski instructors ready to challenge and take you to the next level.

The Summer Mountains offer a huge variety of activities from mountain biking in the view of Mount Blanc to white water rafting on river Dranse.

The Chalet itself was formerly an alpine farmhouse built at the turn of last century, recently fully renovated to create a beautiful retreat for those in search of recuperative well being and fresh mountain air. Aravis Alpine Retreat offers guests a home from home with every desired comfort in a relaxed, shabby chic and informal style. No pomp or ceremony, this house welcomes you as a friend and makes your stay special and memorable.

Our bedrooms

Our stunning chalet sleeps up to 18 people in luxurious en-suite bedrooms, each decorated to suit their unique character. Please see our gallery for images to fully appreciate what is on offer. Our ground floor accommodation offers 3 en-suite rooms; Rock (small double with garden access and en-suite shower), Arch (large double with garden access and en-suite bathroom) and Roman (large double with en-suite bathroom)

A beautiful staircase leads up to our entertaining space, featuring main lounge, bar, dining area, kitchen and games room.

The staircase continues up to our elegant mid-level lounge surrounded by 3 further en-suite twin bedrooms, Creme, Granary and Nest. Your concierge is also located on this floor.

Up again to our top level which offers the penthouse snug, nestled among 4 further bedrooms; Etale (very large double/bath), Bleu (small double/shower), Borne (double/shower) and Glieres (twin/shower).

Our Lounges

The main lounge is positioned off the dining and bar area. Social and welcoming this lounge has luxuriously deep sofas and an open log fire, ideal for pre and après dinner drinks and nibbles.

Our TV lounge leads off of the main lounge. We have a number of games consoles. Perfect for entertaining youngsters.

The mid-level lounge is grand and elegant. With plush leather sofas angled around a glorious wood burner and a large cinema screen, this room is perfect for gaming and entertainment. This sizeable lounge has a coffee bar with a small seating area and stunning views up and over the Lombardes.

Our library is located next to our mid-level lounge. We have a vast range of books and so something for everyone. If you finish your book please feel free to swap it for one of ours.

The Penthouse Snug is a small private area providing space to escape. Grab a book and a cuppa and take some well-deserved time out. The Snug has an overhead skylight so you can enjoy your morning coffee under the glorious alpine sun… If you are an early riser, why not get up in time to watch it rise.


The chalet sits on 3 acres of beautiful Alpine landscape bordered by mountain rivers and forest. The creek of Lombardes forms from Mont Ars into the river Nom. Its waters flow from the Aravis mountains down into Lac Annecy.

Within our woods live a number of alpine animals from stoats to goats and boars to deer with marmots and chamois thrown into the mix. Up in the trees you’ll see green woodpeckers, red squirrels and much much more! Our rivers will soon be brimming with brown mountain trout.

Within our picturesque gardens we have a hot tub, massage hut, sauna and Swedish fire pit. The chalet has numerous balconies and a terrace for you to relax and take in the natural beauty of your surroundings.

We can park up to 7 cars on our drive at the front of the chalet.

Terms & Conditions
Bookings/Payment Bookings are made by paying a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the holiday whereupon a contract will come into existence with Big House Aravis Limited.
Bookings are confirmed on receipt of the balance due no later than 10 weeks before the first day of the holiday. Any booking made within 10 weeks of the first day of the holiday must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Client information and requests must be submitted no later than 4 weeks before the first day of your holiday.

Booking Alterations
Any alteration to your holiday more than 10 weeks before arrival must be made in writing by the person who booked the holiday. We will then do all we can to accommodate your revisions but a small charge may be applicable. Any alteration made within 10 weeks of the first day of your holiday constitutes a complete cancellation of the holiday and is subject to cancellation charges below.

Check in is 3pm on the day of arrival and check out is 12 noon on the day of departure.

Notification of any holiday cancellation must be in writing by the person who booked the holiday as soon as possible. The following charges will apply on receipt of this notification:
10 Weeks prior to the 1st day of the holiday – Loss of deposit
8 weeks prior to the 1st day of the holiday – Loss of 40% of total cost
2 weeks prior to the 1st day of the holiday – Loss of total cost

We reserve the right to cancel your holiday. In the unlikely event of this happening we will offer you another holiday equivalent in price or less and refund the difference. We take no responsibility for cancellations or other alterations to your holiday caused by force majeur or anything else beyond our control.

In addition please be prepared for the hot tub to be out of use on the day of arrival. The tub is refreshed after each group and in Winter months can take longer to reach desired temperature.
