About Jessica Breazeale

Ski 5 is a family owned home. JC and Earline Edwards built the house with their four children and 10 grandchildren in mind. The Edwards' family has owned property on Lake Gaston for over 30 years. The entire family has enjoyed many summer memories at the house. A favorite memory is of JC and his 4 children all skiing behind their boat one summer. Trying to get 5 people up on skis at the same time can be quite a challenge!

Nice Property for Large Group

  • 4 of 5

This was a very nice property for three parts of extended family to use as a central meeting point. It was good to have 4 bathrooms and 6 bedrooms with two living areas and two kitchens. We like to play board games, so we had ample table space to do so. I would describe the property as rustic, so as long as that is what you are expecting, you will not be disappointed. Our only complaint was the state of the bathrooms - we had to "re-clean" upon arrival. I agree with a previous reviewer that the cleaning crew needs to pay better attention to the bathrooms. However, I've had this problem in hotels before - so it wasn't a deal-breaker. We will certainly consider this property for future stays!

It was ok

  • 3 of 5

Stayed here over new years weekend. The house was big enough for our entire group. This house is in need of a good cleaning...Showers were dirty there were chips on the floor in the upstairs bedroom even had to clean the toilet when we got there. The upstairs oven was broken and the door to the fridge downstairs is also broken although there is a sign saying a repair order is in. 2 of the light fixtures were broken. Also the pool table is in need of repair..There was a rip in the felt and I would advise you to bring your own pool sticks because the ones there were missing tips excederia. I'm sure in the summer time this house would be awesome with the large deck and great views of the lake. It wasn't the worst but we probably would not book here again.

SKI 5 House for Family Reunion

  • 4 of 5

We just rented the SKI 5 house for a family reunion over a long weekend and had a blast. Great location with lovely views of the lake and a unique floor plan (with 2 kitchens) and bedrooms on both levels. Loved the screened porch on the top level!! Had a BBQ one night using the deck on the lower level for the grills and the large kitchen downstairs for food prep with our group spread out all over the family room and dining area. I would have given a 5 star rating if the house was cleaner. Needs a good "deep clean" a few times a season in my opinion (as well as regular cleanings after each group of renters departs). Also, we used our own grills because the two provided by the owner are in very bad shape (really need to be replaced).

Perfect for our large group

  • 4 of 5

Our group of 13 was more than comfortable in this very spacious home. We loved the 4 full bathrooms and 6 bedrooms. Having 2 living rooms was great; the teens were able to stay up and play games in the downstairs living area while the adults went to bed. The upstairs living area, kitchen, and master suite have a door that closes to separate it from the bunkroom and other master bedroom. This was perfect when a wild game of Just Dance started in the upstairs living room late at night, but did not bother those sleeping in the other master bedroom. The extra upstairs fridge was great for helping with the overflow of food for our large group. The deck is huge and there is plenty of outdoor seating. The dock was perfect. It was big and covered so that some could sit in the shade while others swam and kayaked. It was big enough for all of us to gather there on Sunday morning to play guitar and worship by the water. So beautiful!

Only 1 negative. The cleaning company could do a slight better job cleaning the downstairs kitchen and downstairs bathroom baseboards and showers (especially on the floor outside the showers). We had to clean the fridge before we felt comfortable putting anything in it.

But please don't let that deter you from renting this great place. I'm super OCD, just to be fair, and the amazing time we had in this great home far outweighed the negatives.

Great vacation with a few comments

  • 3 of 5

The house was plenty big enough for our group of three families. Great yard and screened in porch areas. A few suggestions:

1. The house was clean enough, but needed a good detailed cleaning. Vents, high areas, windows, window sills, bathrooms, etc. This was probably the biggest comment from our group.

2. The refrigerators did not get cold. One was scheduled to be replaced during our stay but came in damaged.

3. The water in this area of the lake is very shallow. Nice for swimming and not worrying about kids. Not so nice for boats, jet ski or pulling people. We had to go to an area out of sight of the back deck to tow the tube, ski, etc. Caution the large rocks or stumps in the water just past the dock.

4. Some items need to be replaced. ie. grill, refrigerator (in process), carpeting in pool table area, a few windows that are cracked.

Overall though, great stay and would still recommend this house.

Beatiful VIew and Beautiful house

  • 5 of 5

The property is beautiful and spacious. The kids loved everything about it. We were even able to rent a pontoon boat nearby. I plan on renting this property for a week next year. The view is beautiful and I love the covered porch upstairs.
