Fuchsia Cottage has its own private garden with BBQ and stunning views over the valley and heated pools. There are 4 acres of attractive communal gardens with two 6 meter HEATED pools, a pine forest & incredible views of the forested valley with walking routes directly into the countryside. The cottage has charming oak-beamed lounges with granite fireplace and is comfortable & well furnished with spacious bedrooms. The expansive grounds include a children's’ playhouse, climbing frame with badminton, table tennis, mini football net in the summer months! The pools enjoy full sun morning to late evening and are securely fenced & locked for peace of mind. The communal grounds and laundry are shared with our other Gîte, Wisteria Cottage, which can sleep up to 10. The perfect place for an idyllic holiday and to enjoy a true taste of Breton culture!

This really is our difference: most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday in this culturally rich area. So that you get the best from your holiday we have compiled a unique information pack covering everything ( well, we hope it's everything - we have been running our business here for over 8 years but are always excited when we find something new!). Our guests have nick-named it the "Bible" which goes everywhere! In addition, we provide an events listing on arrival covering all the local events, markets and brocantes (second hand markets). We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are also on hand for any additional help that you may require, if you so wish. See our website for more information.

Nestled in the beautiful countryside within easy reach (about 30 to 45 minutes) of the many wonderful sandy beaches of Southern Brittany or inland lakes & waterways, the hamlet of Le Crann is an easy 1 km walk or bicycle ride (on one of our bikes) to the small village of St Yves Bubry, with its traditional French bar and grocery shop. And if you fancy time out from cooking, there are many child-friendly restaurants nearby. The delightful river beach at Minezan with rustic bar nestled beside the lock and the popular animated museum of 16th century Poul Fetan are both a 10 minute drive away. For shopping and restaurants there is the charming village of Bubry (10 min), the market town of Baud (20 minutes away), medieval Hennebont with its beautiful floral displays, amazing Thursday market and medieval festival (20 min). There is so much to see or do it is difficult to know where to start: whether it be beaches, water sports or other activities, to see the megalithes at the world heritage site at Carnac or the historic towns of Vannes, Josselin, Pontivy, Hennebont, Pontivy, Auray, Port Louis & Lorient to name but a few. See our website for our Hidden Gems too - those delightful places you just don't normally find without local knowledge.

Within 15 minutes of the main motorway, Le Crann gives easy access to the delights of Southern Brittany. A car is essential. We can be reached from the Ferry Ports of Roscoff (2h), St Malo (2h), Caen (3h30) Cherbourg (3h50) and the Airports of Lorient (30min), Rennes (1h30), Nantes (2h), Dinard (2h), Brest (2h)

Holiday in style: A local chef can provide delicious home cooked meals, simply heat up and enjoy!

About Sue & Steve Anderson

In 2008, we moved to France from England for a gentler way of life and to give our daughter the advantages of becoming bi-lingual and exposure to a different culture. It was difficult with one of us having grown up in Cape Town to find something comparable but when we found Le Crann in Brittany we immediately felt at home. Now fully settled here in such a beautiful location, we can't imagine living anywhere else.

Sue & Steve Anderson purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Sue & Steve Anderson chose Quistinic

A key criteria for our purchase was any property had to be a 'home from home' for our guests. The stunning 16th Century properties give a real taste of a bygone age with all modern conveniences. Le Crann offered everything: A warm temperate climate with sunshine hours comparable to Southern France. Brittany has it's own distinct culture and language with extremely welcoming people. Close to many sandy beaches and the glorious countryside of the Blavet Valley. Activities for young & old including golf, cycling, canoeing, sailing and walking. Delightful places of historical interest with many cultural events year long. Proximity to UK and Europe with many access points by car, ferry or plane. Private south facing gardens and extensive communal gardens with heated pools.

What makes this cottage unique

With the large extensive gardens of 4 acres with views over the most beautiful countryside and situated at the end of a quiet country lane with no through traffic, our guests have commented on how safe and peaceful the gardens and surrounding environs are for children of all ages. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday and a lot of time can sometime be spent trying to familiarise yourself with your environment. We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are on hand, if you so wish, to ensure you maximise your holiday and don't miss out on any holiday experience. We also have the most raved about Information Pack covering everything you could possibility want from your holiday. For those nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists there are walking paths leading directly from the property to many points of interest in the region.

Wonderful Cottage, wonderful holiday!!

  • 5 of 5

Wow what can I say!! From the moment my family and I arrived until we said farewell we had a fantastic holiday. Steve, Sue and Maxine are the most wonderful hosts, and made us very welcome.

The cottage setting and the views across the valley are stunning. We immediately felt relaxed and just soaked it all up. The weather was stunning too, temperatures around 20 degrees all week (and it was only March remember!!)

The cottage was beautiful, full of Breton charm and character. It was spotlessly clean, welcoming, beautifully furnished and homely. Everything was carefully thought out for the comfort of the guests. The log burner was wonderful and made the cottage warm and cosy. The kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need, including a dishwasher (nobody wants to wash up on holiday!!) and coffee maker (aaaah you can't beat the smell of freshly brewed coffee first thing in the morning).

I am disabled and manage to get about with the aid of a stick. The downstairs ensuite bedroom was perfect for my needs.

Sue has put together an Information Pack, which we found invaluable. It gave really useful information about places to see, day trips, restaurants etc. This made it really easy to plan our week (without having to spend all week deciding where we wanted to go and running out of time!!). On the pack's recommendation we visited some wonderful towns and markets, enjoyed superb meals in a variety of restaurants, and sampled some wonderful Breton life. The people are very friendly and the food - exceptional!!

My family and I had a brilliant holiday. All credit to Sue and Steve on all their hard work to produce such a lovely holiday retreat. Thank you very much indeed. We will certainly be booking up again and can't wait to return to the tranquility that is Le Crann.

Relaxing family holiday

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Fuchsia Cottage in March 2012. The cottage and its setting are beautiful, and so peaceful. The accommodation was ample big enough for the five of us, and yet retained a 'cosy' atmosphere, especially as we sat around the log fire in the evenings.

Sue provided us with an extremely useful guide to what the area has to offer, from local walks, to markets, restaurants, beaches etc. Steve kindly leant us a couple of bikes one morning so that we could cycle to get our croissants for breakfast - heaven!

Our only disappointment was that we didn't have enough time to try all of the restaurants, cafes and creperies that Steve, Sue and Maxine recommended. We will just have to come back again!

Perfect holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We returned to Fushia cottage in June 2011, having first stayed there in September 2009. We really had the most perfect holiday, blessed with wonderful weather so we were able to enjoy the pool and the garden for breakfasts and leisurely lunches!

Sue, Steve and Maxine are just wonderful. They are so welcoming and helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The information pack that Sue has put together is so comprehensive as everything you need to know about the area, places to visit, markets, restaurants and more is provided.

The cottage is wonderfully clean, cosy and more than big enough for a family of four. The private garden is very pleasant and secluded with outside dining and barbeque facilities and further gardens offers a play area for children and of course the pool which was well used on this visit! The highlight for our children was being able to play with Maxine in the pool every day.

This really is the perfect place to come for an idyllic get away in a beautiful setting. Sue and Steve are wonderful hosts. We have already booked our return visit with the grandparents for next year in Wisteria!

The perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Fushia Cottage in August 2010 and enjoyed the experience from the beginning to the end. The cottage was beautifully furnished and comfortable, the grounds well kept and spacious and the pools were a constant source of amusement for our four children. The welcome we received was second to none and the owners were perfect hosts who ensured we got the best out of our holiday. The pink file containing information on day trips, restaurants and useful tips was invaluable and made sure we knew what was on offer in the area. We dined at several wonderful restaurants and received a warm welcome at all, our favourite was the local mill which overlooked a lovely lake. We loved the local markets and beautiful towns and the countryside scenery was stunning. We can't wait to return!

June Break at Fuchsia Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We were lucky enough to stay at Fuchsia Cottage in June 2010 and had the most wonderful time despite the inconsistant weather. The cottage and grounds are even more beautiful than the photos portray. Sue, Steve and Maxine were the most wonderful and helpful hosts, without being obtrusive. If you are wanting a relaxing holiday with plenty to do in the surrounding area I would highly suggest you stay at Fuchia Cottage.

We visited the beautiful and ancients towns of Vannes and Concarneau which are well worth a visit-make sure you take time out for lunch in one of the many delightful restaurants. Nearer to the cottage, we would recommend the local pizza restaurant-the pizzas are to die for and is is such a lovely setting.

Fuchsia Cottage is such a credit to Sue, Steve and Maxine and we cannot wait to return there next year!!! We would not even consider staying anywhere else in Southern Brittany as nowhere, in our opinion, could compare to Le Crann and Fuchsia Cottage.

Fabulous Fuchsia Cottage

  • 5 of 5

After an extensive search for the ideal property for our weeks stay in southern Brittany we were absolutely delighted that Fuchsia Cottage was everything we could wish for, and more importantly was exactly as advertised. Sue and Steve were the most wonderful host's and made us feel totally relaxed with a very warm and sincere welcome. The cottage was more than comfortable and well equipped in a delightful setting. We went to the coast which was about a 30 minute drive and also the Market at Hennebont is worth a visit. Sue has done a magnificent job of putting together an information pack, which became an essential tool in our day to day planning of where to go, eat, shop or visit etc., the information within this book was invaluable. Steve was very kind and let Tim use his golf clubs to have a couple of rounds of golf nearby, and we had the option also of using the bikes, but ran out of time, we only wished the holdiay could of continued, but with lots left for us to explore gives us the perfect excuse to return. :-)

Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village. Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes and Josselin. Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis. And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the 'Art in the Chapel' exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels. The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and the owner has details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer. And don't forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.
