It lies in an AONB that juts out in the Atlantic and is home to secluded beaches, pretty coves and quaint fishing villages, many often used as film and TV sets owing to their historic and timeless appearance.A favourite of locals and visitors lying just outside the village of Portscatho is a beach café where you bring your own plate and tipple to enjoy the delicious food under the Cornish sky as the sun sets. Grampound, a historic former town that sits on the River Fal is named after the ancient bridge that spans the river. The village boasts an annual carnival, an excellent local pub and community shop, all of which give the village a local community feel and warmth.There are many local attractions such as Caerhays Castle just 5 miles away, which sits above the stunning Porth Luney beach on the Roseland Peninsula, and makes a great day out. It is open in early spring to enable visitors to view the award-winning camellia gardens. The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan, the Eden Project and many more gardens can be visited close by. The fishing villages of Mevagissey and Gorran Haven are also easily reached. Mevagissey has a quaint harbour and a small local fishing fleet, and deep sea fishing trips are available. Gorran Haven boasts a wide expanse of golden sand, the ideal spot where you can enjoy the perfect British seaside holiday.Truro, St Austell and the dramatic north coast (for surfing) are all easily reached. There are golf courses, horse riding and bike hire all nearby. Shop 300 yards, pub and restaurant 250 yards.
