I stayed here for a conference that was at the Auditorium, and the location was excellent. It's a very easy walk to the Auditorium and about 10-15 minutes to the tram. The apartment is in a large complex of buildings that formed the Olympic Village when Rome hosted the summer Olympics in 1960. The neighborhood is a little run down, but there are lots of families and as a single woman, I felt safe walking by myself. There's a 24-hour grocery store very close, which was super nice. I did have to take the tram down a few spots to find places to eat.
The apartment itself was clean and tidy and well maintained. few quirky things: the apartment had an overwhelming smell of potpourri. There were scent sticks and plates of potpourri in every room. You have to manually turn the gas on to use the stove (and remember to turn it off when you leave). The lights in the kitchen and bathroom have harsh florescent lights. The main bedroom, however, was very calm and nicely lit.
As a host, Antonio was very accommodating and friendly over email. The day of my arrival, however, my flight was delayed and he was clearly irritated when I finally arrived. He then informed me that he and his family would be on vacation all week at the coast and he hoped I would not need anything (and that I had basically cheated him out of a day of vacation). This put me in a weird position, as I discovered later there was only one set of towels (for a week in 90-degree weather) and no extra toilet paper. As a person traveling alone, had I lost the keys, I would have been in a very difficult situation. Overall, everything worked out, but I would recommend making sure that Antonio or his wife would be available should you need something.
It was a very nice place with everything you need. 24 hours food store within a 5 minute walk, car park, washer, air cond, fully equipped kitchen. There is a tram line nearby but we didn't use.
