Oatfield offers spacious self-catering accommodation for up to six people in the charming, historic town of Dornoch, within a National Scenic Area. With a large lounge, morning room, dining room, well-equipped kitchen and a large garden, this lovely holiday home is perfect for a relaxing family break in the Highlands.
Located close to the centre of town, there are a number of restaurants and shops on your doorstep, as well as the famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course and beautiful sandy beaches. The holiday accommodation is ideally located touring the Scottish Highlands and enjoying a range of local activities from fishing to cycling, as well as attractions such as distilleries and castles. After a day’s sightseeing you can unwind at Oatfield with all the comforts of a home-from-home.
Accommodation & Facilities
Lounge: large lounge overlooking the front garden with a sofa, Ercol rocking chair and armchairs, a wood-burning stove, TV, DVD player, radio/CD player and a selection of books. Separated from the dining room by a glass room-divider.
Dining room: adjoining the lounge with a dining table and seating for six guests.
Morning room: a bright room with a TV, sofa and a selection of games as well as access to the garden and rear decking area.
Study: a small room with a desk.
Kitchen: a well equipped kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge and freezer.
Utility room/toilet: toilet, washing machine, clothes drying facilities and a large Belfast sink, ideal for cleaning outdoor equipment, fish etc.
Bedroom 1: overlooking the front garden with twin beds, a large built in wardrobe and chest of drawers.
Bedroom 2: double bed, built in wardrobe and chest of drawers, plus French doors to the deck and back garden.
Bathroom: bathroom with shower, toilet and wash-hand basin.
Twin bedroom: twin beds, built in wardrobe and chest of drawers, with views towards the Dornoch Firth and Struie Hill.
Shower room: sink, toilet, bidet and walk in shower.
The enclosed garden has a raised decking area for outside dining and there is plenty of off-road parking at the property, as well as a garage where guests can store golf clubs, bikes and other outdoor equipment. All bed linen, towels, heating oil, electricity, internet access and off street parking are included in the tariff. Sorry no dogs and no smoking permitted within the holiday home.
Oatfield is a very spacious property with excellent facilities and in a good location just a short walk from the town centre. It was easy to find, easy to access, and has more than adequate parking and a nice secluded garden. Difficult to fault.
The positive ....
The property is very comfortable and lovely and quiet - a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life set in the delightful town of Dornoch. It is only a 5 minute walk into the centre of Dornoch from Oatfield where you will find well stocked shops and various places to eat out. We had a meal in the Eagle and it was very good.
The negative ....
No towels are supplied at Oatfield which we had overlooked and found quite unusual - we bought some at the Asda in Tain! A dishwasher would also have been a welcome addition. The code had been change on the keysafe so on arrival we couldn't get in! Fortunately I had the contact phone number and the situation was quickly resolved.
Traveling from the south by car you will turn right off the A9 shortly after crossing the Dornoch Firth Bridge. As you drive into the town there is on the left hand side a large First World War bronze monument of a highland soldier. Two roads lead off to the left from this monument. The first and lower road is Poles Road. Oatfield address is 3 Poles Road, and is the fourth house on the right.
Traveling from the north down the A9, you will be directed down (B9168). As this road comes into Dornoch it becomes Poles Road with Oatfield as 3 Poles Road, on the left near the left. For those with Satnav the postal code is IV25 3HP.
