Brendan said that Kas is a special place. I now know what he means.
We spent a wonderful week in June in Villa Aphrodite with our 19 year old son. The location and the sea views are stunning. The villa is very comfortable and the furnishings, fitout and overall standards are exceptional. The outside areas, pool, bbq, loungers, are fabulous, and very relaxing.
Kas itself was a fun place, lots to do and see, and yet not too big or too busy. Plenty of restaurants, shops, curiousities. We did a couple of boat trips, (Bermuda and Captain Garlic Ali), which were great. We also took water taxis to local beaches, and did some kayaking. We visited Saklikent, and rafted in some refreshingly cold water. We also spent time at some Lycian ruins and a trout farm in Tlos. The Friday market in Kas is worth going to, there is a great buzz, and we picked up some gifts for family at home.
All in all, a fantastic first visit to Turkey. It will not be our last.
First of all, Kas is a wonderful place to be, it was the first timee and sure it won't be the last.
We spent a week end of may with my family and my sister's family in this wonderful villa.
The location is exceptional and the facilities offered by the villa are really nice.
A stay with children is really cool since there is a play area and all the stuff to make them happy !
The pool and outside facilities are very well maintained and designed.
I am really looking forward to get back there to enjoy it for a longer time !
The Villa Aphrodite in Kas, was beyond all descriptions we had read from previous reviews. For the entire 2 weeks of our holiday we were extremely comfortable. Be that relaxing by the pool or unwinding in and round the villa. The Villa Aphrodite is all you could possibly want and more.
The Villa Aphrodite is spacious, clean and well equipped with all the mod cons you’d expect from such a palatial villa. With the stunning views at your disposal, you didn’t need an excuse to eat in. And for those who like to cook under the stars, there is a great BBQ area on the terrace.
The pool is cleaned daily by caretaker (Fuat) who is on hand to deal with any of your queries throughout your stay. The Villa comprises of 3 large bedrooms all with en-suite. Two of the rooms have access to the balcony and views of the magnificent sunset. The lounge is very open and has access to the terrace from various patio doors. When the weather becomes too hot outside, you can relax indoors and watch a variety of films on the plasma tv. There is also a separate dining and office area, all of which surround a grand spiral staircase – all rooms are fully air conditioned throughout.
The location was just what we wanted. Quiet and tranquil in the day with beautiful views of the Mediterranean, and stunning sunset views at night- these simply “took your breath away” most evenings.
You could take a lovely evening stroll – 20 mins or so; if the walk doesn’t take your fancy, then a short (5 mins – 21 Lira) taxi ride into Kas Town. You could even catch the local bus-3 Lira per person “which stops right outside the Villa”
Alternatively you could hire a car which will then make it easier to explore the beautiful island of Kas, which has so many beautiful sights. We particularly enjoyed spending days at Akcagerme –Plaji beach – a short 5 minute car ride. The children loved the sea here, firstly because of the sea water platform, and secondly it was less choppy than the others we had visited.
The beach also had a separate water slide area (3 different slides) . There is also a good choice of snacks available on site, we especially liked the “strawberry cheesecake cornetto” – “just one cornetto” rapidly turned into 3 on some days.
Every Friday there is local market selling fresh fruit and veg at cheaper prices than most supermarkets. The market was ideal to get all your “real” fakes – We had some great banter with the market traders and came away with some great bargains.

Kas is a delightful seaside town that has managed to preserve its unique charm and character despite its increasing popularity with tourists and travellers. Its stunning location on the island-studded Turkish Mediterranean coast with rugged mountains rising up from the shoreline is the stuff of dreams. The bustling harbour, where each morning fishermen sell fresh-caught seafood, and from which you can take excursions to the many surrounding islands, is lined with traditional tea gardens. Right next to the harbour the main Town Square provides a focal point where locals and tourists blend seamlessly. Fanning out from here, narrow jasmine-scented, alleys overlooked by traditional Ottoman balconies and packed with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, await exploration.
Kas is 185 kilometres south west of Antalya and 160 kilometres south east of Dalaman. It enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot summers (average May-Sep 20-28 C) and mild winters. The population of 8,000 inhabitants swells considerably during the holiday season. The 500-meter, Yatan Adam ("Sleeping Man") mountain, overlooks the town, while across from the peninsula lies the Greek island of Meis.
In ancient times the region surrounding Kas was known as Lycia and the area is replete with tombs, relics and ruins from this and other civilisations. The amphitheatre - the only Anatolian amphitheatre facing the sea - dating from the first century BC is amazingly well preserved and seats up to 4000. It lies 500 meters to the west of the Town Square. Other significant remains are the sarcophagi strewn around the city and the 4th century BC rock tombs, which line the surrounding mountains and are illuminated at night.
