...the plumbing is lousy. The rooms are a nice size, location is great, just a few minutes walk from the metro. The area is largely quiet but with restaurants and shops in the area to provide for all of your needs. The apartment is well equipped with plenty of towels, blankets, and kitchen accessories. The kitchen is tiny but mostly functional. Beds are decent and shutters and curtains do a good job darkening the bedrooms.
Now for the plumbing, to be fair I have stayed in several Paris apartments and many others around France and this is a common problem, but I never seem to adjust to the vague scent of sewer wafting from the bathroom. Add to that a poorly draining shower and a dishwasher that worked two of the three times we used it and I have to say the plumbing here is sub par. But if you take quick showers and don't have a sensitive nose you will be fine if you keep the bathroom door closed. On the bright side the management is doing a nice job in other areas - plenty of toilet paper, soap, umbrellas to use for the stay - lots of things you won't find in other apartments. The building is also nice and well kept with a lift and a wide and well lit staircase. One warning - if you will be noisy don't come, there is a warning in the door that you won't get your deposit back if the neighbors complain, and apparently they complain often. All in all if the plumbing were fixed I would definitely stay here again, but as it is I can only recommend with that caveat.
4 Adults (2 couples) in our 50's
After booking the Apartment, we e-mailed back and forth a few times and then called Jo the day before our arrival. We then called him when we landed at the Paris Airport. He met us at the Apartment.
This place was perfect for us. 2 bedrooms and a spare bed.
There is absolutely nothing that I can complain about but there are a few things that I can say that may help with your stay.
They say that it is on the 2nd floor. It's actually on the 3rd floor. In Europe, the ground floor is called floor 0. There is a small 2 or 3 person elevator that stops 3 feet from the Apartment door that we used a few times but we mostly used the steps.
15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower. We walked to it one time in the morning and one time at night.
Just outside the front door there are many restaurants, grocery stores, and shops. They are literally everywhere.
There wasn't an air conditioner. It was kind of warm in the Apartment at night but with all of the supplied fans, it was comfortable.
Kitchen was very small. We only used the refrigerator and coffee maker.
No English Speaking channels on the TV. Not that we watched it a lot but it would have been nice every now and then.
We never felt worried walking the streets anywhere near the Apartment or anywhere we went in Paris.
We liked this place a lot and have no problem recommending it to everyone
The location and open floor plan drew us to this apartment (along with being less expensive than two hotel rooms in the same area). We have two teenage daughters who shared one room and we had the other. Gave it four stars because we enjoyed our time there. Here are some suggestions and other thoughts:
- Recommend taking credit cards. Having to take out hundreds of Euros cost us expensive bank fees and will most likely deter us from renting this apartment again.
- Jo met us when we arrived and provided a great walk around the apartment in English. The TV was not setup to work and he fixed that and showed the quirks with turning on the heat.
- Jo showed us the phone and phone number to call him though we learned later the phone didn't work impacting our ability to communicate with him
- Building manager only spoke french which was ok, we had a french speaker with us and the building manager was helpful throughout our stay
- Floors - while the old wooden floors were great, they creaked a lot! They were so bad that the owners put up signs to be quite at night. Would be better to fix the floors. Also - outside the kitchen there is a protruding nail in the floor the hurt our feet and ripped socks. Please fix
- Bathroom - was fairly modern and well maintained. The shower nozzle juts out too far causing us to hit it while in the shower and the toilet had an unusual smell.
The apartment was superb! Fantastic location and very spacious with everthing we needed. Close to freah food markets and great little cafes and restaurants, we would definitely recommend staying here and will be sure to stay again in future.
Lovely apartment in a great central location just a 15 min walk from the Eiffel Tower with a good choice of restaurants nearby. The apartment felt light and airy, spacious and well equipped, perfect for our short stay in Paris.
