About David Judd

We love the Brittany region and decided to purchase our dream home in the area. This is our second home and we are gradually putting our own stamp on it although you will find it is primarily traditional and it has all necessary equipment for a lovely relaxing stay.

David Judd purchased this house in 2007

Why David Judd chose Plouguenast

If you want to stay in a rural village location but not too far away from the coastal beaches and other sightseeing attractions then this is an ideal place to stay

What makes this house unique

The house is in a small village surrounded by countryside on your doorstep as well as a local bar and not too far away from towns and the coast for diversity. We have a folder full of many recommendations from us and guests that have stayed here over the last 10 years.

Neo Breton Style Gite in a lovely tranquil village in a rural location
average rating of 4.8 based on 5 reviews

Very clean, spacious inside and out in a lovely area

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely enjoyed our stay at this property. As a family of 6 (4 young kids) we need loads of space within and outside the property and this delivered. The kitchen is very well equipped and gives the at home feel.

Area is quiet as expected in a rural area but there is a well stocked Supermarket just 5 mins drive away and also plenty more in Moncontour 10 min drive away. The local pizzeria Le Kaban makes the best pizza.

Property is well located for activities in nearby St Brieuc with beaches at Plerin.

I recommend and we hope to return

Exceeded our expectations. very well equipped with all you would want in a holiday home.

  • 5 of 5

The property was more than adequate and exceeded all expectations.

The kitchen was very well equipped, perfect if you prefer to self cater rather than eat out all the time.

The bedrooms were all a good size (the 4 that we used) and the beds were suitably comfortable. It is a bonus having 2 ground floor bedrooms and lovely downstairs shower room too, for those who can't manage stairs although the property access does have a few steps or like us, walked around the garden to the back door for those who can't manage any steps

The living room has a good sized modern flat tv and UK freesat, plus a hifi for some background music and 2 good sized comfortable sofas.

Dining seating for 8 around a large dining table.

The added bonus of bikes meant we didn't have to take ours, and a small pool table to keep the kids amused.

The garden was large enough and secure for the children to play plus a lovely seating area to enjoy alfresco dining and a few bottles of 'vin'.

The village is well located with many attractions and beaches within easy reach. It also has a fishing lake in the village that is open at weekends if that's your thing for a mere €6 per day.

I could go on for ever but must stop somewhere. All in all we would not hesitate in returning in the future.

Finally we must say that Dominique, the caretaker who lives opposite was lovely, very welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Thanks again for letting us stay.

Neat and clean house in a beautiful surrounding!

  • 5 of 5

We have had a very enjoyable stay in Plouguenast, it is a very quiet place and it was a relaxing time for us here. We are a couple with two with young children and three friends and stayed for two weeks in July/August.

We believe the house is just situated perfectly as it is situated in such a small quiet place with in the evening no single noise that will break the peace. But aside from that, all activities around you are within or just over one hour driving. Draw a one hour circle around the house and you have much more to do than you can do in two weeks.

The house had more space than the interior photo's suggests, so keep that in mind when you watch the photo's.

Will you ever met a friendlier caretaker? She and her husband will always give you the feeling you are very welcome if you have a question. They will want you to come in their home to talk and not staying outside, just those small things will feel you so welcome. And she can speak English a bit also.

And what do you think about having a nice neighbor who are just like your own granddad and grandma? One of our kids kicked a ball in their garden (its the neighbor or the right side of the house if you stay in front of it, the villa just in the direction of the village center.) I'd go with my kid to them to get the ball back, we get our ball back, but not without a scale of plums and a pleasant conversation!

Conclusion: this home was so well worth the money that we think about returning next year.

Delicia bretona

  • 4 of 5

  • 5 of 5
