About the property

One bedroom has inspirational views across Dee Valley whatever the season

Llangollen Lodge was renovated in 2011 and we have had a very successful six years welcoming guests from all over the globe.

It is a peaceful location surrounded by fields only 20 minutes walk to the picturesque town of Llangollen (40 minutes stroll via canal) and 10 minutes walk to the Chain Bridge, White Waters and Wild Pheasant Hotels for that relaxing evening meal/drink. We are pet friendly and the location is ideal for walkers. There is splendid access to the open countryside from the Lodge.

Because of its elevated position the Lodge is accessible by decking steps from car parking area.

The bedroom has a super kingsized bed which can be converted to two single beds on request. It has an ensuite toilet/wash handbasin and patio doors leading onto decking area.

The lounge has a corner settee which converts into a double sofa bed. There is a SMART TV with Netflix available. There is also a DVD with a selection of films. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine gas hob and electric oven. There is a table and four chairs. The bathroom consists of shower, washhandbasin and toilet.

Our prices include, gas, electric, bedlinen and towels and central hearing is available from October until end of March.

There is a large decking area to the front of the Lodge from which you can enjoy one of the most spectacular views in the area. There is a gas barbeque and a picnic area to the side of the Lodge.

Can be booked together with Bloom Cottage for that special family gathering (sleeps 10) - open all year catering for that memorable occasion. Its competitive prices are popular with couples and it is the perfect location to simply relax or to tour the surrounding area.

Fabulous family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We're an active, retired couple and have stayed at Llangollen Lodge for many years (and in all seasons) and have always had a wonderful time. Marge & Rob are lovely 'hosts' and keen to help make your stay as easy-going and enjoyable as possible. The Lodge is very comfortable and cozy and has a fantastic deck where we spend much of our time in the late afternoons, with a glass of wine, enjoying the amazing views of the River Dee and across the Llangollen valley. The properties are nestled into the Berwyn Mountains, but with the flat canal/river walk just a few hundred yards away - there are beautiful walking opportunities for all abilities. This year we booked both The Lodge and Bloom Cottage for a family reunion with our grown up children and grandchildren. I can honestly say that everyone had a fantastic time and were delighted by the location, accommodation and amazing range of activities in the area. Our group enjoyed white water rafting, trips up the valley on the Llangollen Preserved railway, walking along the canal, picnics by the Horseshoe Falls, drinks & meals at the glorious Corn Mill in Llangollen and lovely lazy meals together at home outside on the deck. If you love the countryside, walking, rivers, canals, history, eating and having fun - knowing you have a very comfortable, warm home to come back to - both The Lodge and Bloom Cottage really do fit the bill. Everyone in our party is very keen to return !

Thanks again Marge & Rob - see you next year.

Stunning location. Very worn and a bit grubby inside.

  • 2 of 5

Loved the views and easy access into Llangollen. Great for many local attractions. Access to the property difficult, down single track road. Property was a little dirty. Popped to aldi (nearby) and got some bleach spray. Bed had big dips in where the springs had broken. Mould in the shower. Had been repainted recently, but nothing had been moved, so was covered in paint. No rinse aid or salt for dishwasher. It was empty of both. Smelt of stale cigarettes.

Owner's Response: It saddens me that you have painted a nasty image of Llangollen Lodge which does not reflect its true nature. I hope that potential guests will not be put off booking the Lodge as it is an amazing little property. I advertise on two other well known websites and have excellent reviews and a large number of guests who return year on year. The Lodge is accessed up an adopted country lane within 150 metres from main road. Hence the elevated position and amazing views. Had you contacted me like any other reasonable person with regard to the property being a 'little dirty' and there being no salt or rinse aid in the dishwasher I would have immediately asked my cleaner to attend at the property to address your concerns. The shower is tiled top to bottom and is not mouldy. I noticed on my last clean that there was some deterioration to the grouting at the bottom of the shower wall which I cleaned in two minutes. The Lodge has a septic tank and under no circumstances should bleach be used. Do you have any photographic evidence of mould in the shower? The whole property was repainted in February prior to a very busy season. I would be interested to know exactly what removable items were covered in paint? Do you have photographic evidence of these items. The springs to the bed are definitely not broken! We are a strictly 'no smoking property.' The property did not smell of stale cigarettes when I deep cleaned it prior to going on holiday myself a week previously. There was only one guest in prior to your arrival and they were non smokers. I work tirelessly to provide a clean and friendly environment for guests from all over the world to enjoy and I am at a loss to understand your attitude and spurious allegations.

Three day break

  • 3 of 5

The cottage was comfortable, The railway station was close to take a trip on the steam train, also close to horseshoe falls . A thirty minute walk into town. We would have scored higher but two nights out of three we were woken up by really loud banging which went on from 4 o clock in the morning until around 7.30. We had a metal sided type building directly behind the cottage, horses were banging about inside the building. Nice location. Noise early hours spoils the holiday

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to review our property and we are sorry that you did not contact us direct to make your comments known to us. We have guests who rebook the Lodge regularly and this is the first complaint we have had about noise from the horses. We make every effort to ensure that the Lodge is a clean and comfortable holiday accommodation but this was something we could not foresee. We were unaware that the horses had access to the building behind the Lodge which has not always been the case. We have contacted the land owner and requested that the building is secured against the horses. We scored you very highly when you left the Lodge but had you given this review sooner we would obviously have given a very low score for 'communication.' Further to our initial response we can confirm that the building has now been secured against the horses that live in the field. This was a 5 minute job once we returned from holiday. We can assure any future clients that they will have a wonderful nights sleep in a peaceful location.

Llangollen Lodge

  • 5 of 5

Llangollen Lodge was very comfortable to stay in. It was very clean and modern and had all the amenities you could wish for including an en suite, dishwasher and washing machine. The scenery from the decking was outstanding with mountains one side and the river below. It was an ideal place to use as a base for some amazing walks and the town was situated a short walk along the beautiful canal and a longer walk to the famous viaduct. Llangollen itself has some great pubs and restaurants to eat. The owners gave us clear directions on how to get to the lodge and plenty of information regarding amenities etc. but also left her telephone number should we have any problems.

We would definitely recommend Llangollen Lodge to all our friends.
