Fantastic Property

  • 5 of 5

Property was as described but better. Very nicely furnished with gardens and orchard. Pool beautiful and spotlessly clean. Great rural location near to local facilities just a short car drive away. Sarah available to answer any queries you have. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful relaxing stay

  • 5 of 5

We spent a blissful 3 nights at Blanchet this summer with our 2 children aged 5 and 2. It is the perfect antidote to the hectic crowds of both home in London and the coastal holiday resorts at school holiday time.

The property is set in gorgeous rolling countryside with vineyards and woods as far as the eye can see. With no immediate neighbours we enjoyed privacy and peace such as we've never had on a holiday before. Saying that, it's only a short drive to the stunning villages and towns such as Saint Emillion, or to visit the many vineyards in the area. The grounds are perfect for the kids to run around and explore in safety with a front and rear garden complete with treehouse, an orchard with rope swings, and an alarmed pool.

Inside is great for the kids as well, with beautiful single bedrooms and a large space downstairs to use as a playroom. The well-stocked kitchen is open plan with a large dining table adjacent, and doors on to 2 terraces with further tables and seating.

The decor is beautifully done and of a high quality - I wish my own home looked as good! All in all an amazing luxury property, I really hope we will return to in future years.

Luxurious farmhouse set in stunning scenery.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our two young children (5 and 3 years old) after a week near Archichon and had a wonderful time.

As you approach the house driving through country roads surrounded by farmland and vines, you know you are in for a treat, and Blanchet certainly did not disappoint.

The house is huge, and beautiful. A large open plan kitchen and dining area leads through French Windows onto a substantial balcony also with dining capacity for 10 people plus additional seating and lounging / sun bathing area, all with expansive views across the local vineyards which stretch for miles and deliver stunning sunsets in the evenings.

The house is very clean and welcoming throughout, and combines old architecture with modern touches and conveniences. Large bedrooms, bathrooms, and additional lounge and separate kids room all light and airy, you can't really fault the feel of this place.

The grounds include an orchard, several acres of land including some woodland at the back of the house (which was great for exploring with the kids, running around and generally tiring them out!) and the swimming pool is a great size, with a both a cover and alarm for peace of mind.

There are local amenities within 10 minutes by car, plus lovely local towns to explore with great restaurants, a river to fish in, and of course Saint Emillion close by.

Rob and Sarah (the owners) were great to deal with and they have ex pat English people who service the house and are available for catering, babysitting and local recommendations which was fantastic for us being first timers to this region.

We stayed in August and the weather was absolutely perfect, much better than what we experienced by the coast at Archichon the previous week which was variable to say the least!

We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

Rustic French Country Farmhouse.

  • 4 of 5

Our time spent her in this beautifully renovated farmhouse was one of complete peace and relaxation. The home and grounds are spacious but with a lovely flow and connectivity. From the tranquil surrounding countryside to the orchard, garden, pool area and sundowner deck the ambience was one of unchanging harmony.

The fishing in Monsegur is great for children, however the fishing in St Sulpice is for those who take fishing more seriously. In Villendraut there is excellent canoeing - a really fun family day out. St Sulpice also has great off road cycle routes. The night markets during the Summer months are not to be missed, both Levignac de Guenne and Monsegur markets are worth a visit. There are Kids Clubs in both Levignac de Guenne and Monsegur, you'll need to sign up and thereafter it can be used on an ad hoc basis during your stay. Domaine Gourdon is good for wine tasting (the wine maker is English speaking) - keep an ear open for evening music concerts at this wine estate during the Summer months. The Terrace Restaurant in Durus and Madame Moutier in Thenac (taster menu) are tried and tested and come highly recommended - please book during the Summer months. For a lunch time in Summer under the trees in Durus, Don Camillo is brilliant, but definitely book in advance! Lastly, there is a food market almost every day of the week within a 5 mile radius of Blanchet - you can cycle to Monsegur on Friday, Le Reole is a 20 minute drive away on Saturday, or closer to Blanchet is the Durus market also on Saturday. On Tuesday, there is a market in Sainte-Foy-la Grande and on Thursday there is a delightful market in Eymet. We have two adult mountain bikes for your use, a suggested morning 10km cycle to Pellegrue for the best freshly baked pastries or for those less energetic you can also get scrumptious pastries at St Ferme (6km) or Monsegur (6km). Enjoy!
