This charming cottage offers a relaxing rural retreat, set in the midst of the Herefordshire countryside, with far-reaching views to be seen from every window. Our cottage is ideally located for enjoying walking or canoeing along the beautiful Wye river, swimming in the River Monnow, or for hiking in the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains. The historic market towns of Hereford, Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are each about 15 - 20 minutes drive from our cottage. The tourist destinations of Hay-On Wye, Symmonds Yat and the Forest of Dean, are also very accessible, as are many notable attractions of Herefordshire: historic houses, ruined castles, ancient churches, specialty food producers, and even Welsh wine.
The cottage has been recently renovated and tastefully decorated to a high standard. The spacious kitchen is well equipped with a preparation 'island', dishwasher and fridge/freezer. Along with a microwave, you may enjoy the exceptional taste of food cooked in the radiant heat of the electric (easy to control the temp.) Everhot cooker. There is a large dining room adjourning the kitchen with a table that seats six, or you might like to eat al fresco on our outdoor table and chairs while enjoying the expansive view over country fields. A highchair is available for young children.
There are two family rooms, one with a good variety of games for under 7 year olds. The drawing room has comfortable sofas and super-efficient 'Clearview' log wood burner. The main bedroom has a wonderfully large, spring pocketed Super-King size double bed, the other twin beds, plus a cot is available for use for children 3 and under. The spacious bathroom has a walk-in-shower and roll-top bath (with lion feet). There is a second loo on the ground floor. The utility room is equipped with a washing machine, a clothes dryer and a drying rack. There is broadband wi-fi access at the property and a television with DVD player and Freeview channels.
The cottage is south facing, with outdoor seating allowing you to soak up the sun and the view to the Black Mountains.
There is space for parking three cars in the gravelled drive and garden across the road from the house.
There is a pub just under a mile away, and a village shop and post office just under 2 miles away. The house is easily accessible from the M50, with Bristol or Cardiff only an hour away.
