The apartment was nice, very clean and in a great location. We had a lovely stay for New Year but there are just a few little features that could be improved upon to make the apartment excellent!! No hanging space for clothes, bigger bath towels, champagne flutes in the kitchen. Yes these are nit picky details and overall we had a great stay these are just a few things that would have made our stay perfect!!
We had such a lovely Christmas at the flat. It was really clean, warm, comfortable and well-equipped and in a great location - just a short walk from the centre of York. It felt nice and festive when we arrived - thanks to the Christmas tree and the bottle of Bucks Fizz (much appreciated!) I'd certainly recommend it to others and we're already thinking of a return trip in the summer.
This was our second stay at Eastern Villa and daughter and husbands first stay. Just as lovely as we remembered and the family loved it, nicely decorated, everything you need and very easy walk into centre. Parking space makes location ideal.
We stayed in the apartment for 2 nights. Directions to find the apartment were clear and everything was as described. Extremely clean and well appointed, instructions were clear and easy to follow. The welcome package was such a surprise and so welcomed! Perfect stay, the weather was fantastic, and the city itself is clean. Thank you!!! 😉
This was a stop off for us to visit family in Middlesbrough, York is such a beautiful city and although we`ve visited before we would never become bored of it. The apartment is on the top floor of a larger mature building which no doubt was previously someone`s massive personal home. There is an allocated parking spot in the rear car park in Eastern Terrace which is a little tight to negotiate but can be done safely with care. There is a co op at the far end of Eastern Terrace too which is useful, about 5 minutes walk away. We had a slight problem with the key to the main entrance (it had split). We managed to get in though and less than 10 minutes later Keith the owner came and gave us a spare key without any fuss. The apartment is immaculately clean. There is a large open plan well furnished living room encompassing a kitchen and dining table. This included a welcome pack of milk, bread and some wine (very welcoming indeed, thanks!). There are two lovely double bedrooms, well decorated as is the rest of the apartment, with smashing soft furnishings and nick nacks. Towels are provided. The bathroom was also nice, with a shower over the bath which was easy to operate. In addition to York centre which was about 10 minutes` walk away we visited two National Trust properties at Beningbrough Hall and Fountains Abbey (we are members and the kids love them....), well worth a visit if you fancy somewhere else to visit. Many thanks Jayne and Keith, we may visit again in the future.
Northern England region Yorkshire, the largest and most diverse county in England. Not without justification do Yorkshire men call their county 'God's own country'. From the stunning countryside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park with it's rolling hills and valleys studded with beautiful villages and old market towns to the historic North Yorkshire coast with it's famous resorts of Whitby, Scarborough and Filey and the wild North York Moors, Yorkshire is packed with ancient castles, ruined abbeys and majestic stately homes of the aristocracy. No other county can match it for it's beauty and heritage. York, the jewel in Yorkshire's crown, voted England's Favorite City, European tourism City of the Year. There is always something going on to surprise and delight the visitor. This beautiful old walled city has over 2000 years of history. York has been important to many invaders. The Romans named York Eboracum and was home to the legendary Ninth Hispana and Sixth Victrix legions, Roman Emperors were acclaimed and died in this city. Viking Kings ruled from here and named it Yorvik. Norman stronghold, William The Conqueror fortified the city to subdue the rebellious North after the invasion of 1066. King George VI said 'The history of York is the history of England'.The city is alive with history with every twist and turn of its narrow streets, York Minster, the ancient 'Shambles', Clifford's Tower, Merchant Adventurers Hall, Kings Manor, Treasurers House, Yorvik Viking Centre, the list goes on. World class horse racing, superb museums [the Yorkshire Museum, Castle Museum and National Railway Museum], old haunted Inns and pubs, year round festivals, street entertainers, ghost walks, riverboat trips, lively bars, cosy bistros all combine together to make York the city to visit whatever the season. York, a city where an ancient past feeds a vibrant present.
