Whether you come from Fort William on the West side of Scotland or via Inverness on the East side, Tigh an Aullt is approached via one of the most awe inspiring glens of Scotland. Cluanie Glen is magnificent with its majestic mountains, its rugged rivers and loch. The colours of the highland landscape at any time of the year are truly beautiful.
Tigh an Aullt is situated at the foot of the Five Sisters of Kintail, a famous set of Munros which draw climbers throughout the year. It is the highest cottage in the village of Ault na Chruinne nestling tight into the hillside. A spate stream full of large boulders flows down the hillside beside the cottage garden, sometimes with the sounds of the boulders moving, sometimes, as quiet as a gurgling fountain, depending on the amount of rainfall. Excellent walking, sailing, boat hire, pony-trekking and fishing are all nearby and Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Torridon and Applecross are within easy reach.
a week of rest and discovery in a beautiful and very quiet house even if the river can be very noisy !!
The birds were our neighbors and enough sun absent !!!
the discovery of Scotland by French !!!!

COTTAGE HAS AN AMAZING VIEW. BETTER THAN EXPECTED. WALKS FROM FRONT DOOR. WILDLIFE AROUND COTTAGE GREAT. GREAT LAYOUT AND VERY CLEAN. HOPE TO RETURN ASAP
Well furnished and all in working order. Dreaming of returning for longer stay.
Highlight was our over-the-mountain drive to Applecross and superb seafood lunch at the Inn!
We had the most magical holiday, amazing views all around the property. The property was very well maintained, clean and very well equipped. We received great customer service right from our first enquiry and throughout our stay. There is a local shop just a few minutes walk away, very well stocked and helpful owners, they advised us of a hotel close by, which is where we spent New Years Eve, fun evening and also very friendly!! Would very much love to visit this property again. Have already recommended this property to family & friends. Thank you again for such a perfect holiday
Wonderful scenic views from the panoramic lounge window, abundance of wildlife to keep you entertained. Comfy and cosy cottage especially with the open fire. Excellent facilities in the cottage , but could do with some updating and some minor repairs. Will definitely be back again.
Special interest holidays:
Cycling: The area around the cottage has lots of varied gradients from easy to seriously challenging; two routes we suggest are:
- Cycle along the opposite side of Loch Duich from Ratagan through Letterfearn to Totaig. Why not cycle over Mam Ratagan to Glenelg, a serious ride with dramatic views on the way up and a thrilling ride down into Glenelg.
-The ultimate ride we believe is the hill road to Applecross over the Bealach na Ba or The Pass of the Cattle.
Enjoy a days Kayaking with Willie the local National Trust Ranger.
Fishing & whale watching: There is fishing in the hills for brown trout. For salmon fishing try the River Croe near the cottage.
There are loads of wonderful places to visit, The Isle of Sky being a must. Also visit Plockton, a charming fishing village where Hamish Macbeth was filmed.
As Tigh an Aullt is situated on the edge of a loch access to water and water sports are always on offer and if you travel further up the coast you can find some amazing white sandy beaches.
Inverness Airport - 2 hours drive
A car is essential when staying at the cottage.
The village of Ault na Chruinne is just down the hill - approximately 300m.
Kyle of Lochalsh and the Isle of Skye Skye - 15 miles
Inverness - 150 miles
There is an award winning restaurant and pub only ¼ mile away and the local shop is 1/2 mile away, so everything is within easy reach.
Skye Bridge is only 15 miles away, so a day trip to Skye is a must.
Excellent walking, sailing, boat hire, pony-trekking and fishing are all nearby.
Eilean Donan Castle, Plockton, Torridon and Applecross are within easy reach.
