Back in Woolacombe again but this time we had a lovely apartment. Fantastic week, weather good and lots of delicious scones! Will never stay in a caravan again! Enjoyed visits to Croyde, Barnstaple, Wildlife and Dinosaur Park in Combe Martin and Bude. Now sadly we are off home via Porlock where we bought a wall hanging on the way here so new we need to collect it! We may stop at other place along the way so we can delay going home! Thank you very much for making our stay most enjoyable. We'll definitely be back as my son (6) looks cool in his wetsuit and now loves body boarding!"

The photographs of oyster cove do not do it justice. A lovely spacious cottage within easy reach of the village. Very Comfortable and clean with everything you need. The chocolate cake on arrival was a lovely gesture. We will definitely be returning in the near future.

great location

  • 5 of 5

we were 5 adults and 2 children 6 and 8 and Mabel the dog.

The accommodation suited us fine. it was only a short walk to the beach and into the village.

the weather was a bit mixed but the kids loved body boarding and all the rock pools and the pub "The Thatch" was child and dog friendly if you sat in the bar or outside.

Great property, fantastic location!

  • 4 of 5

I stayed at the fab property for 3 nights as part of a girls getaway. What can I say the property is exactly as described, extremely comfortable indoor living spaces and plenty of garden chairs to enjoy the outdoors. Property was very clean and welcoming when we arrived, with a really nice touch of including a cake, which went down well with a cuppa for us weary travellers. Kitchen was fully equipped, and all the bedrooms were comfortable with nice linens and bath towels. If you are looking at this for a girls getaway like we did, don't be put off my the bunk beds. These are single size beds so plenty big enough and comfortable (proper mattresses) for adults (we're a party in out 50's, so comfort is definitely the name of our game). There are two bathrooms, with toilets and decent showers, plus a third separate toilet. One thing that may be of interest, is apart from 4 internal steps at the end of the hall to the bunk room, bathroom and double room, this property is all on one level. There is also free wi-fi at the property. Directions and check-in instructions were clear and accurate and we had no issues gaining access to the property.

And it is as stated walking distance to the beach. 10 minutes I would say...would definitely recommend this property. Lived up to all expectations.

It's a great location for the beach, town and restaurants. Has a lovely garden to enjoy with sun all day and into the evening. We had 4adults and 4teenagers. We found the living area fine and spacious with 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms there was never any problems.

A nice Kitchen area and a good size dinning table. Around great property. Looking forward to returning next year.

Other Activities:

As well as water sports there are several activities that can be enjoyed within the local area, including beautiful walks along coastal paths, cycling the country lanes, or horse riding over Exmoor, which is less than a 30-minute drive. Golf is also available at the nearby championship course Saunton Sands.

For families looking to entertain the children at one of the many attractions, Watermouth Castle, Exmoor Zoo and The Big Sheep are all within easy reach. Many will also offer discounts on tickets bought in advance via their website. Other nearby attractions include RHS Rosemoor, Arlington Court and Dartington Crystal.

Oyster Cove is set in the gorgeous chocolate box village of Croyde in North Devon. The house is just a short walk from the wonderful beach, which has regularly been awarded a blue flag, and is patrolled by lifeguards from Easter through to the end of the October half term week. The beach, which is renowned for its surfing is also great for families with shallow waters perfect for paddling and soft golden sands ideal for building sand castles, the beach also has other water sports on offer and surfing lessons can be arranged.

For dog owners, the sand dunes running behind the beach are great for walks and run all the way to Saunton and Braunton. Alternatively, you can walk the South West Coast Path that is easily accessible, or head to the nearby Braunton where the Tarka Trail can be picked up, this largely traffic free pathway runs all the way to Meeth on the edge of Dartmoor and is also used by cyclists.

For other nearby beaches, Woolacombe and Saunton are just a few miles away and are suitable for families, as well as water-sport enthusiasts.

Croyde itself has a lively village centre with a few nice pubs and restaurants, as well as several shops selling a variety of souvenirs and day to day essentials. It is a great place to visit no matter what the time of year.

For a larger range of shops and restaurants, Braunton and Ilfracombe are only a short car drive away. Braunton, which is home to the Burrows, An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to several independent stores, as well as a supermarket, the town also has many fantastic places to eat, including SQ, and Squires Fish and Chips. Ilfracombe also has a good range of shops, plus a beautiful harbour from which you can set sail on a sea safari or head off to the nearby Lundy Island, a Site of Scientific Interest.
