About Kathy and Gregg Jakobson
Moved from Laguna Beach to escape the density of California and feel so blessed to have purchased this historic 100 year old granary on the 10th largest river in the United States. Country living is a dream come true.
Kathy and Gregg Jakobson purchased this Apartment in 1997
Why Kathy and Gregg Jakobson chose Corvallis
We purchased this property the day it went up for sale. We were walking our dogs from the home we had been renting which we intended to rent for a year before deciding to make Oregon our permanent residence. It was providential! How often does a 100 year old Granary on the water come up for sale? The rest is history
What makes this Apartment unique
We fell in love with this unique piece of property, the old barn, the Douglas fir wood floors the wood beams and ceilings, the incredible river view the country living that provides serene and peaceful surroundings. Watching the eagles dive into the water and come up with a fish, all the species of birds right outside our windows. Relaxing in our hammock overlooking the river. Remodeling and watching all the potential this property had was an amazing journey. We fall more in love with it with each passing day and remain grateful for our lives here at the Old Granary.

Willamette River Getaway
Cute little apartment adjoined with the owner's home. Great views of the river. Only complaint is that the sprinklers for the lawn came on, covering our new car with hard water spots.
Just what we needed.
Perfect for a home base while we house hunted and visited our son in the area. Quiet, clean, and only a short drive away from anything we wanted to do. Drinking coffee in the morning watching the river flow by was my favorite part. Now the only challenge is we want a house just like theirs!! Thank you for your gracious hospitality. AJ & Bill Moose
We will keep our ears open for any of our neighbors wanting to sale here on the river and let you know. Yes as Bob Dylan sings "I'll just sit and watch the river flow" one of the pleasures we love doing on a daily basis. Good luck on your house hunting! We would love to have you as neighbors. Thanks for staying we hope you return you were wonderful guests.
Best extended vacation we've ever had!
The Riverhaus was better than expected and made our stay "just like home". What a wonderful time in Oregon!
So glad your extended stay was better than expected. You were the perfect long term guests we really enjoyed getting to know you both. Thanks for the great pictures you captured on your morning walks. We will be using some of them on our website. Seeing your pictures makes us realize how beautiful Oregon is as we tend to take it's beauty for granted at times. We hope you find the perfect home to buy here in Oregon and hope to see you when you come to live in our area.
Our honeymoon retreat on the river.
Amazing property owners Gregg and Kathy went the extra mile to make us welcome. From there sweet touches they added to room to the delightful wine and card left for us on the table. Beautiful property, delightful cat and an overall incredible experience. We can’t wait to come back and bring our boys to this wonderful apartment over looking the river.
Honeymoons are special so turning the bedroom into a honeymoon suit with all white linens, flowers and tulle was so much fun . While our guests were here they sat down at the river and watched 2 juvenile eagles put on a show for 2 hours. They had just bought an incredible camera with a long lens so hoping they were able to get some great pictures that they will share with us. Adding special touches to the apartment to make are guests feel more at home and enhance the stay with us is always a joy. We look forward to seeing our guests again in the future and meeting their boys.
Although not located near restaurants, stores or attraction, it is absolutely a very peaceful, quiet, and comfy place to stay. Owners are onsite and offer their help and their knowledge of the area to their guests. A wonderful retreat from the hectic pace of our usual life.
It is about a 15 minute drive to Corvallis, where we could shop, eat, and get gas. We would always end our wine tasting day by driving into town to get groceries or to buy food to go and take it back to our place. Nice places to walk in the morning where we could take off and walk for 3-4 miles, only seeing a couple of cars.
It was a great balance between wine tasting all day and relaxing all evening.
Our little town of Corvallis is located 10 miles south of us and depending where in Corvallis you want to go the drive could be 15 minutes. We love that our guests can make an easy drive to town with no traffic. Corvallis offers most of what our guests need to help make their stay with us enjoyable. It is not far from numerous wineries, the coast and 2 larger cities that offer more adventures if desired. We are glad that our guests took their daily walks on the country roads that provide peace and comfort while getting exercise. Our guests were wonderful! We are so pleased that they enjoyed their peaceful and comfortable stay here a the Riverhaus and hope they will return sometime in the future.
We lived our stay. The unit is beautiful and so peaceful. The views were wonderful and we loved our time.
The weather was so perfect during this stay at the Riverhaus which makes for spending time down at the river and just hanging out and enjoying the calm and peace of being in the country. We hope you will return soon!
Easy access to walking, jogging and bicycling on flat country roads surrounded by acres of farmland. Wine tours throughout the Willamette Valley are a must. Steps from front door enjoy boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, river floats or just relax and watch the river flow.
