Overview

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom Creekside Cottage with sun deck, jetty and large garden

Pipers Cottage is a beautiful creekside property, perfectly positioned in a picture postcard setting on the west side of the Salcombe/Kingsbridge Estuary. It is only a 2 minute drive from the pretty waterside town of Kingsbridge with its many shops, pubs and restaurants and just a 5 minute drive from fashionable Salcombe with its fabulous golden beaches. For the slightly more adventurous both Salcombe/East Portlemouth and Kingsbridge can be accessed by boat or kayak from the front of the cottage!

In addition, the cottage is really well positioned in the South Hams to access, not only the beaches of Salcombe, but many more favourites such as Bantham, Bigbury, Thurlestone, South Milton all approximately a 10 minute drive from the cottage door.

Historic Dartmouth is just a short drive in the opposite direction along what must be one of the most spectacular coastal routes in the country, with many more fabulous beaches en route, including, Beesands, Slapton and the award winning Blackpool Sands.

However if you do not want to venture far from the cottage there are enough things to do around the property to keep adults and children happy for days: Relax on the loungers on the sun drenched terrace; Sit on the Jetty with a coffee or a glass of wine watching the kids play in the creek and if you're lucky spot the resident Kingfishers fishing as the tide slowly comes in bringing with it our friendly pair of swans. At low tide it is possible to walk a fair distance along the creek on the shingle bed (avoid the mud) and see the clam beds and a huge variety of birdlife feeding on small crabs and shellfish. As the sun gradually recedes from the Terrace at about 7.30 ish move to the top of the garden where you will find benches and a table and chairs with plenty of terraced garden for the kids to play. You can watch the sun set over the horizon at 9.30 or so in the height of summer. Afterwards move back to the front Terrace, light the pretty rustic pantile sconces and just chill! Finally, a rowing boat (4.4 meters) is available on request for a small fee; great for pottering around on the creek at high tide.

About sian janta-lipinski

We are a family of five. We bought the property after we fell in love with area and couldn't believe our luck when we found a rare waterside property next to a pretty hump back bridge just off the old coaching road between Salcombe (our favourite place ever) and pretty Kingsbridge. The property needed quite a lot of renovation when we bought it and now finally it's just how we had imagined it could be when we first saw it all those years ago. We have never let the property before as we have never had a desire to go anywhere else as it's so beautiful. However, as the children are getting older and want to go abroad we have decided to share the property so that others can enjoy it as much as we do

sian janta-lipinski purchased this cottage in 2007

Why sian janta-lipinski chose Kingsbridge

Because of its fantastic location and position on the water it feels as if the Estuary is even part of your own garden.

It is also central to the most fantastic beaches, lovely coastal walks and boating towns with many great restaurants and pubs. Therefore you not only have the serenity of the location but also the buzz of very trendy and upscale Salcombe and popular Kingsbridge just a stone's throw away.

What makes this cottage unique

With a slipway nearby, this is a great place to enjoy a water sport based holiday; or a place to just relax and enjoy the natural beauty and peacefullness of the stunning surroundings.

A great place for both families, with all the space and activities right there, or for couples wanting a quiet peaceful holiday with kayaking and walking from your own doorstep.

Marvellous holiday!

  • 5 of 5

The four of us had an extremely enjoyable holiday at this nice cottage - helped of course by the heat wave. We enjoyed trips to many of the nearby beaches and there were good pubs and restaurants not too far away. This cottage is on a creek and our children enjoyed feeding the swans and crabbing there. I,myself, enjoyed rowing the boat down the estuary to explore the area further. The cottage itself was cosy with comfortable beds and with plenty of room for the children to play. There was also a huge garden at the back of the cottage, with good views, where the children could play and we could relax. We shall definitely have another holiday there in the near future.

A wonderful hideaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for one week in July, a family of four with a 2.5 year old and a 4 month old. The house is well equipped and very well suited for kids. With the front outside terrace area being secure we were able to relax knowing our toddler could not stray too far!

There a couple of TV's, DVD players and crucially internet access at a decent speed, about 7mb/sec.

There are plenty of great beaches and attractions in the immediate area.

Would highly recommend.

Beautiful cottage in an amazing location

  • 5 of 5

We had a thoroughly enjoyable weeks stay in this beautiful and charming cottage. You just can’t help but relax here, there’s a very special ambience about the place. The cottage is beautifully decorated and laid out with really comfy beds and everything that we needed for our stay. We loved rowing the little boat down the creek in the evenings and sitting on the jetty and watching a family of ducks waddle last. There is so much to do in the area that we were spoilt for choice when deciding what to do. Highlights included North Sands beach and South Milton Sands. Thanks Sian and Rob!

Jedna z nejlepsich dovolenych vubec

  • 5 of 5

Na toto misto, ktere se nachazi v neobvykle krasne prirode, budu vzpominat hodne dlouho. Ti lide, to more, ty lodky, nikde zadny stres. Thank you very much. We loved it! Dominkka

Owner's Response: We asked our guests from the Czech Republic to provide a translation of their review, which is shown below: Title of review: One of the best holidays ever. Your experinece: This place, what is situated in unusual pretty nature, I will remember a long time. Those people, this sea, those boats, there is no stress at all. It is not possible to not love this place. There was such a positive energy, that we will surely come back soon. The accommodations was perfect, there is nothing more to say than this. Every sunny spot in the garden has it´s own chair. Morning coffee by the creek with the company of swans is so relaxing experience, that can not be described by words. Same as a glass of wine by the sunset in the upper garden. Sian and Rob they jjust have a great taste and their style is breathing on you from everywhere. Thank you very much. We loved it! Dominika

Pretty, spacious cottage in quiet location

  • 5 of 5

This is a really lovely cottage with plenty of space for a family of four to spread out. Would also comfortably accomodate six or even eight . Really good to have a second shower room. The highlight for me was the location. Really quiet and right on the edge of a creek where a patient birdwatcher can see Kingfishers up and downstream of the little stone bridge. Also some great coastal walks within 20-30 mins drive. The owners could not have been more helpful. Will def come back in the summer one day
