Outstanding Lakehouse Setting

  • 5 of 5

The property is absolutely gorgeous and we couldn't have asked for a better setting, especially with regards to the weather (was all just about perfect save for about 2 hours late Saturday night). About the only note of caution would just be planning around the fact there's only 1 bathroom (if you have a bigger party like we did, patience is a virtue!)

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

First time renting this property and it was a great experience. We rented this place for a guys ice fishing trip. Nice quaint location up in the 'Northwoods' yet close enough to Minocqua and Rhinelander if you needed anything from town. Property was exactly as described. Very comfortable for our party of 6. The kitchen had more than enough of what we needed for cooking & prepping. We didn't need it but having the washer and dryer on site would have been convenient had we needed it. The location was great on the lake, just down the shore from a bar and a main snowmobile trail and steps from the lake. Fishing was not the greatest but I would like to revisit this lake and/or property during the open water season as our timing/local weather conditions may have been off and my research online & with a local guide said this lake was decent for several fish species. The property instructions call it out but do plan ahead/prep for taking your garbage with you when you leave. We brought extra garbage bags with us but there were some available onsite with the rental.

Great secluded getaway for the winter!

  • 4 of 5

This was a cozy cabin with a nice, secluded area surrounding. The property was beautiful in the winter with plenty of snow for snow shoeing. The warm winter didn't make for the best ice fishing, but there was some in the bay, although the fish just weren't biting during our stay.

Overall, it was a great visit although be forewarned if going in the winter, plowing is not reliable and there are quite a few hills, so make sure you're prepared!

Had a great time

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time renting on this lake and this property, but have been renting other properties for years. The house was larger than expected and we loved the lake views from the main living areas. It was wonderful to have breakfast and see the lake and to have drinks on the deck in the evening. There were a few things that were missing like the railing on the front steps and light bulbs from some of the fixtures but it is my understanding that the railing was in the process of being replaced and that a previous renter had removed the light bulbs; so both of these are being addressed. The fishing was some of the best we have ever experienced any year we have vacationed up north +10 years. We are planning on returning in the near future.

Wonderfully clean property--is bigger inside than what it looks from the outside. Kitchen was pretty much "utensil stocked" as stated which is always a surprise. The water is clean and beautiful, but I think the "good fishing" is over-rated. This was the first vacation of this type for my family and it was relaxing and great. It's was a really nice place for us. We never left the property to do anything else. Thank you.

Don’t be fooled by the pictures!

  • 1 of 5

This is a great location and the lake is just awesome. However, from the start, the communication with this owner was not very good. I have never had a more difficult time contacting or corresponding with an owner until now. Every time I would attempt to contact the owner by email, I would just get a short one sentence response. The times I attempted by phone him, I would get his voice mail, and then get a short response from him by email. If I was lucky enough to actually speak with him on the phone, it would be extremely brief or he would get back to me……by email.

When we reserved the cabin (several months in advance), we sent in our deposit check as instructed. I then get a message from the owner asking for the rest of the money. I was a little puzzled by this because according to his contract (section #6) payment wasn’t due until 60 days prior to the stay. So I attempted to contact the owner by phone, and you can guess how that went……no response, left yet another voice message with my Ph#……short reply by email saying OK.

As far as the cabin, it definitely needs some work done. You can tell where updates were started and stopped midway. The bedrooms were big and the beds were comfortable. The living room and kitchen/dining room were very small. We had 4 adults and 2 children in our group and we all felt cramped inside the house. The yard was like an over grown weed forest, the canoe had a hole in it, the DVD player did not work, the paddle boat would not steer correctly, the kitchen was not well stocked with pots/pans and utensils, the patio chairs were all broken/missing seat support, and there was no curtain for the front wall of windows to block out the evening sun from blinding us and the TV.

We felt as though the owner really didn’t care about us or this place, and that all he wanted was to rent it. I have never said this before but unfortunately, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Owner's Response: We have been renting out our lake house since 2006 and have many guests renting our lake house annually. The description and pictures shown in our listing are very representative of our 1,100 square foot lake house. All our other reviews attest to the quality and cleanliness of our lake house and good experiences renting from us. We respond promptly and professionally to all customers verbally on the phone if called or by email to provide a documented response. Our 1,100 square foot lake house had been updated in 2006 including a complete remodel of the bathroom and kitchen. Our kitchen includes most utensils and amenities. We were in the process of updating our rental agreement and had a discrepancy in the payment terms language. Upon notification of the discrepancy, we emailed this guest with corrected payment terms as requested. We had been at our lake house less than 2 weeks prior to arrival of this guest. The lawn had been mowed, the DVD player worked, the canoe did not have a hole and paddle boat worked fine. We were first informed the DVD player did not work and of the hole in the canoe 5 days after arrival of this guest. These items were promptly addressed upon notification. The paddle boat is still in good working order as of today. Upon notification of this review, we contacted this guest by email and phone to discuss their concerns and resolve this situation without any response.
