Weymouth Bay Holiday Apartment

These apartments command a fantastic view overlooking Weymouth Bay and you just have to cross the road, to be on the beach.

If Apartment 1 is booked, be sure to check availability of Apartment 2, or vice-versa.

The beach is one of the best in the country. Each apartment has one double bedroom and sofa beds in the lounge.

The bathrooms have recently been re-fitted and the rest of the flats have been re-decorated and new sofa beds/chairs added.

Utility costs / linen / towels etc. included in rental cost.

About Samantha Wilson

We took over these premises around Xmas 2014 and have refurbished to a good standard. Our manager resides in the top flat, we also run the cafe, which is on the ground floor of the premises, so there is always someone on hand, if you require assistance. We relocated from London.

We had been visiting Weymouth on numerous occasions and fell in love with the Dorset coastline. The views are exceptional and you have everything you need here, fresh air, great walks and scenery, also the main shops, cinema, marina, eateries & bars etc. are all within walking distance.

What makes this apartment unique

The main feature to the property is the large bay window, overlooking the bay. Most of the buildings along the Esplanade are listed Georgian period properties.

Also, unlike a lot of seafront properties & hotels here, we provide a free parking permit for the duration of your stay ( offering a saving of at least £50 + per week in parking costs ).

When we go away we like to sit down, relax, admire the view. No chance here as when we arrived the building was covered in scaffolding. There was no prior warning or apologies when we arrived. The beautiful view across the bay was not visible. We were very disappointed as this was the reason we chose the apartment. Friday, saturday & even sunday nights were extremely noisy with revellers outside & the thumping of base music from nearby clubs. Anybody who is a light sleeper would not get any sleep until about 3am. Saying all that We love Weymouth, but would not return to this apartment, even though it had everything inside we needed.

Charming flat on the beach in Weymouth

Gorgeous views from the sitting room. Nice, bright, clean spacious flat. Good location. Weymouth is a beautiful place. A bit noisy one night when the pub emptied. George was a wonderful host.

Not worth the money!

We had a very disappointing stay at this property, only wished we had taken photos and complained sooner as we would have liked a refund. The first thing we noticed on entering the property was the awful smell of old cooking oil which seemed to have permiated throughout the appartment. The bedroom also smelled but this was a damp musty smell, we tried to get some fresh air in here but the windows had been painted closed. We mentioned this to George who also couldn't open them, he suggested opening the fire door which we didn't think was a good idea. Also there were men working behind this door for most of our stay and opening it would have meant even more noise and dust.

The apartment was generally grubby and 'tired' looking. No attention to detail had been made during the cleaning. There were still crumbs on the kitchen worktops especially in the corners and a dirty smelly cloth had been left on the sink. The fridge needed a thorough clean before we could put our food into it and the oven was so dirty that when we first switched it on the smoke alarm was set off as the oven began to burn all the mess that hadn't been cleaned off. Dust and debris was found under furniture, obviously nothing had been moved whilst cleaning and there were lightbulbs out in every room. We mentioned that we wanted them replacing but they were still all out on the day we left. Samantha and George were very nice people but just didn't have the high standards that we were expecting. The other thing to mention is that the apartment is extremely noisy, we knew it was on the sea front but didn't expect the noise from clubs and pubs still turning people out into the early hours. A few nights the noise went on past 5 am, this included the night before my husband was due to race in an Ironman event which is why we booked our stay. It should be made very clear on the website that this is an extremely noisy apartment. Samantha and George actually told us that they had moved away because of the noise. We certainly wouldn't recommend this property and would actually go out of our way to discourage people to go. It reflects badly on Home Away as it was not honestly described. Owner's Response: We are honestly amazed at this review, as at no time were we made aware of their remorse, at staying here. This apartment has been fully booked since May and apart from a few issues, which have always been dealt with instantly, all of our tenants, have enjoyed their stay and even re-booked in 2017. The husband was competing in the “Ironman Event” and even brought their bicycles into the apartment, without seeking our permission to do so. If they had booked an apartment with the “High Standards”, that they were expecting, they would definitely not have been allowed to keep their bikes in there. The smell of cooking oil, is coming from a neighbouring establishment, of which we have no control over. There isn’t any damp in the building and many of the windows are permanently sealed, as they were, when we acquired the building. As this is a listed building, replacement costs, would be tens of thousands £’s. The noise from workmen, is out of our control, as they are working on the adjacent building, also the noise from the pubs clientele, are also not controllable by us. Most tenants appreciate that this is a “Holiday Resort”, catering for “Holiday Makers”, who sometimes like to go out at night and enjoy themselves. The apartment is in a prime location for the beach and all of the facilities, that come, with being at a seaside resort. These tenants were solely here for the Ironman event, wanting an apartment, a stone’s throw from the start line, so any nightlife, was never going to meet with their approval. The irony is, that the town was packed with people, watching the Ironman event and these were the same people, out enjoying themselves. There was an issue with some light bulbs, which were immediately replaced, also the smoke alarm was triggered by the tenants burning their toast. With regards to cleaning, we do move furniture etc. when cleaning and the apartment was fully cleaned prior to arrival. With regard to taking photos of the mess, everyone has phones with cameras, these days and I do not doubt that pictures would have been taken if issues existed. In response to our moving away, this was so that we could “let out” the other apartment. In closing, this is a holiday apartment and issues will arise from time to time, as we rely on the trust of tenants to keep the place clean and report any damage, unless we are made aware of issues, we cannot resolve them.
