Great cottage in middle of Whitby Town
Cottage was clean and tidy keeping some of the original features it was very cosy but big enough for the 3 of us, I would recommend this property . It's location was brilliant 10 seconds to town. The only draw back was there was no private parking but they do supply permits so you can park on the road which was about 10 mins away.
We're very pleased you enjoyed being right in the middle of the historic part of Whitby, which is pedestrianised. The trade-off is that very few cottages so centrally-located are able to offer private parking. The nearest pay and display car park, however, is only 100 metres away, and is free overnight. You can also pull up within 30 metres of the front door to load and unload. And yes, the scratchcard permits provided can be used across much of the town.
We arrived at the property my wife and I plus 2 grandsons (6 and 8).The charactor, cleanlieness and facilities of the the cottage were second to none and the welcome pack was most appreciated.
The boys slept in the "attic" which they thought was marvallous.
The cottage was very handy as the beach was nearby and shops were on the doorstep. We had an excellent week and the boys are already asking when they can come back for another holiday. Would highly recommend this accomodation to anyone.
We stayed at 4 Clarks Yard For the weekend, Such an ideal location just a moments walk from Whitby centre. The owners must take great pride of their Cottage as it is very well equipped to a very high standard with every thing you would need for a self catering holiday, we thought the welcome pack was lovely and would definitely return when traveling to Whitby.
Long Weekend in Whitby
Snug and comfortable in 300 year old character cottage near centre of Whitby yet away behind main street. very peaceful. Cottage a bit tired but clean and full of character.
Ideal location, walking distance to swing bridge, quay and shops.
No parking near cottage but didn't need to use car for duration of break. Parking permit supplied by owner but not used. .
Found Whitby to be very welcoming and all we met very friendly.
Full of character, yet practical
Pictures cannot really do justice to the wonderful character of this lovely cottage. They can't convey the feel of the place, and the little touches - lovely rope handrail on the spiral staircase; the bakelite switches; the old photographs of Whitby. Everything is a delight.
There's charming wooden panel internal walls, and quaint cupboards and curves in the various rooms. However, it's also a comfortable and practical cottage - great warming central heating, well equipped kitchen, and such an excellent location, just below the abbey.
The owner provides good instructions, and clear communication.
From the moment you open the iron gate into Clark's Yard, and see the garden, enter the cottage, and find the thoughtful welcome tray, this cottage truly charms you.
Nothing more to add, other than, no, we have not paid these guests for their wonderful (and very accurate) review!
Peaceful, cosy cottage
Just enjoyed a wonderful New Year in this beautiful, well equipped cottage. It's full of character in a very peaceful location, yet within seconds of bustling Whitby centre.
We were charmed by the opportunities of places to eat and drink in Whitby and endless fish & chip shops! A lovely walk to Sandsend, along the beach, with the best Bakewell Tart we have ever tasted at the beach café. There are many lovely walks from the cottage and one of the joys for us was not having to use the car.
David, the owner, was very helpful and efficient, ensuring we received all the relevant information we needed beforehand.
After a day out in the cold wintry air, it was lovely to return to the embracing warmth of the cottage.
Would highly recommend and want to return.
