Gamekeeper’s Cottage is a delightful little house on the edge of beautiful Snowdonia. Located near the little hamlet of Pentir in peaceful countryside location this detached cottage offers superb accommodation and fine countryside views! The former gamekeeper’s cottage of the Faenol estate this house is in-between the university city of Bangor and the town of Llanberis, widely regarded as ‘The gateway to Snowdon’. Gamekeeper’s cottage is certainly for all seasons, in the winter you can cosy up on one of the comfy settees in front the fire and in the summer you can enjoy the conservatory and lovely private garden and maybe even a bit of alfresco dining! There is a pub/restaurant within 1 mile of the cottage too.
There is lots to do nearby, The Snowdonia Railway is within 15 mins drive, Penrhyn Castle is close by, Greenwood Forest Park is just 5 mins away and a great day out for young and old, for the adrenaline junkies there is Zipworld too. The walks in this area are excellent and the dramatic Ogwen valley, a popular spot for walkers is within easy reach from Gamekeepers. perfect place to stay if you want a peaceful time. The cottage is lovely and comfortable. We stayed in the winter but would love to return in the summer to enjoy the garden.
Delightfull cottage in an ideal location with thoughtful supplies for us on our arrival. Would look forward to returning again in the summer weather to appreciate the garden and views.
We had a lovely week at Gamekeepers Cottage- our group comprised 4 adults, a three year old & a whippet dog - and we all enjoyed it.The house is in an excellent location- peaceful & quiet & in the countryside but only 10 minutes from Bangor. It is very well equipped & comfortable.
There was no mention on the description of there being a washing machine (which was important to the mother of the three year old !!) but there is in fact a washing machine & clothes dryer outside & airers to dry washing on inside the house.
We can highly recommend Blas Lon Las, a farm shop and cafe at Ffarm Moelyci in Tregarth just outside Bangor just off the A424.
Our time at the cottage was nice, we had everything we needed. The location was perfect. We found the cottage to be central for a lot of things and took advantage of our National Trust cards. Leaving us milk, tea etc was a lovely thought. We would definitely recommend this cottage. Purely on a personal note, I found the couches too low to sit on and not comfortable and they, along with the carpets were somewhat tired looking. But I hasten to add that this did not stop us from enjoying our time there. We had a lovely time, thank you.
Suoerfisially it was fine - and clean, but there was a lot of dust. One of our party was sneezing and wheezing within half an hour. There was dust on headboards and 'just' out of sight!! Under the beds was decidedly not clean, more than a few months' dust and dirt. A shame because the location was perfect.
Lay out of the cottage perfect for our party of 6 adults and one infant. Conservatory large and comfortable. Located in what seems the middle of nowhere but all attractions of Snowdonia and Anglesey easily reached. Nice pub just over a mile away along quiet country lane and Tesco store nearby if needed.
Kitchen and bathroom facilities very good. Owners easy to contact and responded immediately to a minor issue with one of the toilets.
Large mature gardens and patio area but not very practical to use and in need of some love and attention especially if you are a gardener.
In summary a very nice place to stay which is suitable for families especially if you have dogs.
