Spacious Apartment in the Heart of the Maurienne; Linked to the 3v Ski Domain

Homely apartment for week long rentals in the heart of the Maurienne valley with superb access to the three valleys ski area via the 3v express gondola, +10 other ski/mountain resorts in the Maurienne and the Vanoise national park.

The very spacious ~45 Sqm apartment located in Residence Le Hameau des Eaux Orelle comes with a contrasting finish, greater space, and competitive price versus the majority of others in the Residence; whilst enjoying all the on site amenities such as access to the spa/pool/sauna/steam room/bar/restaurant/supermarket/ski locker/bus access to 3v telecabine/secure underground car parking/Laundry facilities/hi speed wifi availability.

To those less familiar, the commune of Orelle is located in the middle of the picturesque Maurienne valley and is superbly located for various outdoor pursuits...

Skiing in the 3 vallees (the words largest linked ski domain) - With the purpose built 3 valless express telecabine situated in Orelle you are just 15 minutes away from skiing in the world largest ski area after riding on the worlds largest telecabine. Snow is guaranteed from December to May as the telecabine drops you off at the ~2400m plan bouchet, with onward access to Val Thoren, Meribel and Courcheval. Between Orelle and Val Thorens you have the ability to fly like a bird rather than skiing, taking the 100km/h zip line 'the Tyrolienne'. However if your just starting out skiing there is a training area at the top of the Gondola and the ESF ski school.

Within a short drive of +10 other Maurienne valley mountain resorts (skiing, hiking etc.) - If you want to try another ski resort the Maurienne has a wealth of opportunities to try somewhere new for a day trip (22 in total). You even have the option to buy a 6 day pass for the entire valley (which is considerably cheaper than a 6 day 3v pass - see links). Personal favourites include Aussios, LaNorma and Vallorie (all great in summer too for hiking, mountain biking, via ferata, climbing). Note: I very strongly recommend that guests have a car, not only to potentially visit other resorts but for travel to the locals towns 5-10 mins away for shopping etc - Modane , St Michelle De Maurienne and St Jean de Maurienne.

Road biking in the Maurienne (the worlds largest cycling domain) - Those familiar with road biking will have heard of Galibier, La Toussuire, Val Frejus, Croix de la Fer etc (naming just a few). With Orlle being right in the heart of the worlds biggest cycle domain you can be impersonating Tour De France greats by reaching the foot of these famous climbs <30 mins cycle from the front door.

On the door step of the Vanoise national park (France's first national park) - For those interested in hiking, climbing and nature spotting the vanoise national park is right on the door step. In fact the apartment its self has a wealth of mapped/signposted walking trails just outside the front door... ranging from 1 hour trails with the opportunity to see deer, to +5 hr treks above the tree-line into the Vanoise with Marmots aplenty.

An hour and half away from Lyon, Turin, Grenoble - If you fancy a off outdoor pursuits these bustling cities are just a short drive away for shopping/sightseeing... as is the superb Rhone Alpes Walibi theme park.

Access to the Orelle is easy, there is no requirement to spend 45 mins winding up a track to reach the resort (the telecabine does that for you every morning in 15 mins), its 5 mins from the autoroute A43. It is within 2 hours drive of no less than 5 airports (Lyon, Chambery, Turin, Geneva, Grenoble), and within 3 hours of Milan airports. Or if wanting to travel by rail the Paris to Milan TGV train stops 10 mins away from Orelle at St Michelle de Maurienne and Modane .

The photos and description should provide you with all the detail you need on the apartment itself. Looking around you hopefully will see its very competitive in terms of price/size/bed/quality versus the other apartments available in the residence.


To ensure your expectations are realistic about Orelle:

-What Orelle is... a superbly located small and quiet commune with superb access to affordable outdoor pursuits. Its great for families wanting to spend time together and for those serious about making the most of outdoor activities. Next to the telecabine there is a ski school office, ski pass office, tourist office, couple of souvenir/ski/rental shops and a bar. At the top of the telecabine there is a restaurant/bar. In the Hameau (5 mins walk to/from the telecabine) there is a bar/restaurant and small supermarket.

-What Orelle is not... a party central ski resort with multiple bars/shops/night clubs. Although you can have a 'apres' beer in the restaurant bar at the top of the telecabine, and more in the bar at the bottom of the telecabine or the hameau bar itself whilst watching sport. You cant go jump from bar to bar until the early hours; if you want to do that look elsewhere.

Why Jeremy chose Orelle

It is very well finished (warm, spacious, power shower, superb views), with all the perks (pool, high speed wifi, spa, little super market, good beer in the bar!), well priced (less than half the cost of a Meribel, VT pad - with friendlier locals) and in the most unbelievable location... for skiing you have the ability to try multiple different resorts in the Maurienne if you want to try something different to the world biggest ski domain on the doorstep (3v); its in the middle of the biggest cycle area in the world with handfuls of the most famous Tour de France climbs less than 30 mins cycle from the door; multiple Ski resorts turned mountain biking/hiking destinations in summer including the amazing Vanoise national park; quaint sized towns 15 mins away (St Jean De Maurienne, Modane) and Lyon/Turin 1.5 hrs away for day trips!

Its just perfect for active families at any time of the year.

What makes this apartment unique

So many.... but for me its the location... For outdoor pursuits and to get away from the concrete abyss, the apartment is perfect!

Best in class skiing, rock-climbing and road/mountain biking opportunities aside; the apartment its self has a wealth of mapped/signposted walking trails just outside the front door... ranging from 1 hour trails with the opportunity to see deer, to +5 hr treks above the tree-line into the Vanoise with Marmots aplenty (these walking trails really are superb and personal favourite of mine - if you want any information on this, just get in touch with me).

You definitely wont get bored at any time of the year if your active.

Great view, spacious appartment

Had a great 6 days in the apartment in summer. Loads of mountain road cycling and walking opportunities and within easy reach to watch the Tour de France or the lake at Annecy.

This is one of the best suites in aparthotel

We visited Orelle with a company - 25 persons and booked 5 apartments. This one was the best for sure. It was a bit expensive then other one but I see following advantages:

+ Great view from window / balcony

+ Main room significantly larger than you may see in another. It's enough space for 2 separate sleeping beds, place for food, kitchen

+ Everything works, in good condition

+ Instruction we received from Jeremy fully covered all needs and it's not necessary to seek for other persons in apartment to arrange any matters.

+ Deposit was returned in a short time according to agreement

Other points I are to mention. I can't fix it as a minus of this apartment, It's rather specialty of apart-hotel.

- Internet is inconvenient enough. 15 Eur for 2 devices and regular necessity of reconnection and some limits for usage.

- Swimming pool and sauna is overloaded

- If you are planning to use free shuttle be ready to crowd, however for me was not a problem walking to ski lift and return back

As for accommodation in Orelle in general - I like it. It's cheap, good location for arrival, excellent terms for skiing. It was bad weather for some days and lifts to other valleys was closed, but it's normal situation in mountains.

Nice Appartement

We stayed for a week skiing and enjoyed the place a lot. Nice value for price. The apartment is bigger than we thought of; there was all we needed. The landlord helped us with some tips for skiing and was very nice to us. Orelle is more of a calm village, so don't expect to much of partying and Aprés Ski. You can enter the trois Valées skiing area without any problems from Orelle, just take a short walk down the hill or a 2min ride by car.

And make sure to bring your speedos — you can excess a spa in the complex but only with speedos. They could turn the sauna a bit warmer ;)

Big and cozy apartment, well equipped

It was a pleasant surprise to find an elevator and underground parking in the residence. Extremely convenient to load all the luggage at arrival and skis everyday.

Amazing view from the huge balcony! Apartment is well equipped with everything necessary: starting with cooking and ending with games. Very convenient and big fridge. It was very clean and all the cleaning materials were provided.

Apartment is decorated with a great taste! The balcony is equipped with chairs and table to enjoy beautiful sunsets with a glass of wine.

Every 15 minutes there's a free shuttle bus to the lifts, extremely convenient. It is also an advantage to use the sauna and spa-zone for free after skiing.

The owner is very friendly and helpful, very quick to reply and understanding all issues. It was a pleasure to communicate and we thank Jeremy for his thorough approach!

Highly recommend this property! It was a great pleasure to stay there and we can't way to come back!

Schöne Wohnung - tolle Lage und Aussicht

Wir haben als Familie mit zwei Kindern einen schönen Urlaub genossen. Die Wohnung ist mit allem ausgestattet, hat einen geräumigen Balkon, der dazu einlädt, die tolle Aussicht zu geniessen. Wir hatten wunderbares Wetter und durch die Hanglage wehte meistens ein erfrischender Wind, so dass auch die heissesten Temperaturen schön erträglich waren. Die Betreuung vor Ort war freundlich und pünktlich, die Kautionsrückzahlung erfolgte prompt und wir werden gerne wiederkommen. Ein Hinweis noch, zumindest zu unserer Aufenthaltszeit war für den Pool keine Anmeldung erforderlich und WLan wird nicht von der Rezeption freigegeben, sondern muß übers Internet freigeschaltet werden und via Kreditkarte oder PayPal bezahlt werden, also besser nochmals bei Jeremy nachfragen.

L'appartement est spacieux et bien équipé. Il serait bien de mettre le pommeau de douche en hauteur de façon a faire également douche sinon tout était parfait. L'appart est bien situé et . On a pu profiter de la piscine et du spa. Apres de bonnes randonnées, cela détend bien. Il y a Valloire, la Norma, beaucoup de joli coin à visiter a coté. Merci à Jéremy, le propriétaire qui a toujours répondu à mes questions.
