The comfortable and child orientated accommodation comprises of five bedrooms, two lounges (one with large dining table) one family bathroom, shower room, kitchen, drying room and conservatory. There is a large garden with parking spaces for up to 4 cars.
This is a great room in which to relax after a day of activity. The large open fire place is surrounded by sofas and armchairs. There is a dining table seating ten in this room. After a meal the adults can collapse around the fire whilst the children head for.
Definitely the room for the children in the party as this room holds all the games, sky TV and DVD player. A smaller open fire ensures that this room is as cosy as the main lounge.
A small table in this room makes it perfect for early children’s teas (high chair available).
The small conservatory at the end of the house gets the sun all day long and looks over the loch - great for breakfast. Set up the bar-b-que on the step by the double doors and it will not matter if it rains or shines, or if the infamous Scottish midge drives you indoors.
A well equipped kitchen with microwave, dish washer, double oven and hob. Plenty of utensils and gadgets such as sandwich maker, blender etc.
The boiler room is a useful room to dry off the wet clothes and boots. The washing machine is also found here.
Downstairs toilet and shower room.
Comprises large walk in shower cubicle with electric shower.
Two sets of stair cases lead to the upper floor. One is open tread and another smaller stair at the end of the cottage.
A large garden is laid out to lawns and shrubs.
There is plenty of room to place kayaks, canoes, boats if you have brought them with you.
We are a family of four who love the West of Scotland. Our children are always relaxed and happy when we are at Gallanach, which luckily for us is only 2 hours away from home.
Being at the Cottage, close to the water or on the water makes for lazy and relaxing days.
We never tire of the views and find something new to see every day.
Gallanach Cottage purchased this cottage in 2015
A unique location, beautiful scenery and a charming village. Far enough away to feel 'away from it all' but close enough to larger villages such as Inverary so you can enjoy local food and crafts.
The sheltered bay provides a great place for water sports.
Only 2 hours from Glasgow yet a world away
LOCHSIDE - different views every day
Large Plot - lots of space
Can easily launch your boat/rib right outside the cottage
Comes with a mooring
Gallanach cottage is situated just meters from the sea, and is great for anyone planning to bring a kayak or boat. The area around the house gives plenty of opportunities for outdoor life. Other than the outdoors, there is not a lot of attractions nearby, which our teenagers found a little boring. For younger kids just being outside playing was great. Some outdoor toys in the house would have been great. The house itself is a good size and decent standard, although the kitchen utensils could do with renewal (or an available knife sharpener). The next door neighbour is very friendly, and helped us find excellent local mussels which we made a delicious supper out of.
It's a lovely, quirky house that has the most fantastic view of the loch. It's I a quiet unspoilt village that still has access to many local shop, including a medium sized supermarket. We loved using the open fire (logs from a local garage). We were a party of 3 adults and 6 children adults nd fitted comfortably into the house. We were incredibly lucky with the weather and I k ow from visiting the area many times that this can't be counted on but we you have the views are spectacular. The owners upgraded the wifi for our visit and we were surprised (the kids were relieved ) as to how good the broadband was in the area.
We met the owners on the last day adults Dr nd they told us they had plans for massive changes, hopefully theses won't spoil the slightly quirky character of this place as one day we would like to return. Highly recommended!
Spent 2 weeks in August in a group of 8 - 2 families of 4 - and loved the space available with 2 lounges, 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Jigsaw Puzzles, DVDs and books help keeping everybody busy when the weather is a bit too Scottish. The loch is visible from most windows in the house and provides an ever-changing background. Lots of shops and supermarkets are available in the towns nearby along with great places to visit: castles, beaches, seafood restaurants, local festivals, etc.
The cottage was thoroughly cleaned before and during our stay and you can tell the owners make every effort to ensure their hosts enjoy their stay.
Are seriously considering coming back to this part of Scotland in a few years' time.
At every turn the sea fringed West Highland landscape of Mid Argyll is steeped in history, from the pre-historic sculptors of Kilmartin and Knapdale to the elegant Ducal Home of the once feared Clan Campbell. Fertile valleys, sea washed shores and ancient landmarks make Mid Argyll a most fascinating holiday experience.
This idyllic, extended fishermans cottage has a stunning location, sitting in a large enclosed garden, on the foreshore of LochGair an inlet of LochFyne. The small village of Lochgair is scattered along the shore and up the hill towards the hotel which serves excellent food and real ales.
The area is ideal for walks, either in the hills or beside the sea, with many bike trails nearby, including alongside the Crinan canal. Launch your windsurfer, dinghy or canoe from just outside the house. Visit the delightful towns of Inverary, Lochgilphead or indulge at the Loch Fyne Seafood Restaurant at the head of the loch! Visit the Loch Fyne Brewery for local ales.
The cottage provides a great base for walking in Argyll. Whether it be the short walk to the “point” for view across Loch Fyne to the Cowal peninsula, local walks in Ardcastle and Knapdale Forest or to Munro bagging, there is something for everyone. Let Scotland’s breathtaking landscape and overwhelming spirit of place refresh and enliven your senses.
Cycling in Scotland is a healthy celebration of wide open spaces, dramatic scenery and clean fresh air. Again the area provides great cycling from easy routes such as the flat but picturesque Crinan Canal to mountain biking in the forests.
The cottage is literally shoreside so fishing for tiddlers and crabbing is inevitable. Bigger fish are available from the “point” and fishing trips can be organised through Fyne Tackle www.fyne-tackle.co.uk but watch out for the dolphins, seals, basking sharks and even nuclear submarines which occupy Loch Fyne.
Ride in some of the most spectacular scenery in Britain. Heading off into Argyll countryside along the shores of Loch Fyne is an unforgettable experience.
Scotland, the home of golf, provides golf for all abilities and ages. Within half an hour there are three nine hole courses at Inverary, Lochgilphead and Tarbet, Machrihanish and Loch Lomond for the adventurous and affluent are within an hour and a half.
The sea off the West Coast of Scotland provides a fantastic opportunity to see the dramatic scenery and abundant wildlife, seals, dolphins, whales, sea eagles and the world famous corryvreckan whirlpool.
The islands of Scotland are some of the most enchanting places on earth. Dramatic sunsets, spectacular scenery and a traditional Scottish Island welcome are just a few things that await you. Ferries to Mull, Isla, Jura, Arran, Gigha are all within one hour of the cottage.
