About the property

4 bedrooms with spectacular views of Royal Deeside and the Balmoral Estate

Rhinabaich Cottage is a granite built farmhouse typical of rural Aberdeenshire. It is located in the Cairngorms National Park and sits in a sheltered position on the southfacing slope of Gellaig, one of the largest mountains on Deeside.

The cottage is modern and cosy inside, and features a spectular multiwindowed lounge with panoramic open views down and across the Dee Valley, and over the Balmoral Estate to Lochnagar, the highest mountain of the east Grampians.

Open fires in the lounge and dining room augment the oil-fired central heating, and logs are provided in the winter. Wifi, Freesat TV and Blueray DVD are all provided too.

The cottage has four bedrooms: a Master bedroom and smaller double bedroom downstairs, and a further double bedroom and twin single bedroom upstairs. A travel cot is available if required.

The modern oak kitchen has a contemporary five burner gas cooker, with NEFF oven and microwave, fridgefreezer, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer: everything to make your holiday comfortable.

The recently refurbished bathrooms each have toilets and showers, and one has a bath.

Outside there is ample private driveway parking, a well stocked spacious garden, garden furniture, a Weber Barbecue,a table tennis table and a 12 foot trampoline with safety net.

The land around the cottage offers fascinating exploring of the delightful stream, hillside and woods, and of the nearyby ruins of ancient cottages, remnants of one of the many thriving crofting communities which dotted the area in times gone by.

The location is just ideal for a relaxing break amid the glory of Royal Deeside, with stunning views of the River Dee, over the Balmoral Estate and on to magestic Lochnagar, the highest mountain in the east Grampians.

The cottage offers complete privacy, but is just 4 miles from Ballater, a beautiful and vibrant village which has long enjoyed the patronage of the Royal Family, as Balmoral Castle is nearby.

All linen is provided, including towels, sheets etc.

Pets are not allowed, and the cottage is non-smoking.

At the end of your holiday, you don't need to clean,do laundry etc as this will be done for you. We just ask that you strip your beds and leave the cottage and garden tidy for us.

Whether you just want to relax and enjoy the lovely views, shop in the charming artisan shops of Ballater, fish in the Dee or walk the paths through the forests and climb or ski in the mountains of Royal Deeside, we are sure you will have an unforgettable holiday at Rhinabaich Cottage.

Why Nick Macklon chose Ballater

Rhinabaich cottage has a wonderful mix of complete privacy without being too isolated, and enjoys some of the best views on Deeside. it's elevated location on a south facing hillside means it enjoys the sun all year round, and all day clouds permitting!

The 800 meter track to the cottage rises from the main road between Ballater and Braemar and is suitable for all cars.

It is a very comfortable house. Excellent beds in the 4 bedrooms, fully equipped NEFF kitchen and shower rooms on both floors. The lounge has a feature open working fireplace.

Outside there is a table tennis table and a trampoline is tucked away beside the garage.

What makes this cottage unique

The peaceful, sunny location, surrounded by mature trees and hillside with superb open views is quite unique. The cottage itself is spacious and cosy with carpets in all public and bed rooms. A special feature is the lounge with surround large glass windows offering 240 degree vistas of the Dee valley, surrounding hills and the royal estate of Balmoral.

What a fantastic hidden gem. Outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

With the whole of a Scottish hillside, complete with stream and grazing sheep, we felt really privileged staying here. Every home comfort was provided, it really was a home from home. Although the weather we had for our stay was glorious, we would love to come back again, whatever the weather. One of the best properties we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in quite a few!

Lovely cottage

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage, in the middle of nature with some charming villages close by. We loved the living room with the fireplace, big screen TV and the LPs we could play. All bedrooms have super comfy beds. Very nice and well equipped kitchen too, and excellent butcher at Ballater! Beautiful surroundings, the river Dee at your feet, lots of deers and bunnies to spot, and a great whiskey distillery around the corner. Everything you want for a holiday in Scotland. We had a great time and definitely recommend!

Zuerst hat die Heizung nicht funktioniert, was aber mit Hilfe der Pub-Besitzerin behoben werden konnte. Dann war alles wirklich super. Toll ausgestattetes Haus in herrlicher Lage.

Royal Deeside really is a special place.

The beauty and majesty of the scenery is matched by the warm welcome offered by the pretty villages of Ballater and Braemar, both of which provide excellent shopping for foodies and outdoor types alike.

The Royal family's famous Scottish retreat, Balmoral Castle is nearby and open to visitors much of the year, as is the Lochnagar Whisky Distillery.

Spectacular walks abound, for all levels of fitness, and the Ski Slopes of Glenshee and the Lecht at just 40 minutes away, providing rental equipment and day passes.

Golfers are spoilt for choice, with beautifully situated courses nearby, and the famous Trump Links Course less than an hour away, at Balmedie, which also has one of the best beaches in the UK.

The area is dotted with ancient castles and gardens open to the public, and the Speyside Whisky Trail and original fishing villages of Aberdeenshire are within striking distance.

In the summer, Highland Games can be enjoyed in Ballater, thee Lonach in Strathdon and of course at Braemar, as famously visited by the Royal Family.

Nearby Ballater is lively all year round, and cycle hire, guided walks and outdoor safaris can be booked whatever the season.
