|Property type||chateau / country house|
|Minimum Stay||2 nights|
The house is on the edge of the ancient fortified town of Castellonalto, it is placed on a rocky outcrop and overlooks a deep gorge and pristine crossed by way of Lana.
The restoration of the property has favored the originality and exclusivity of the details; doors, windows, furniture and accessories are all original; what is proposed, it is to enjoy beautiful things, original, ancient forgetting for a few days the modernity.
The area devoted entirely to the guests are a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a living room with fireplace, kitchenette and sofa bed (single), a bathroom and a terrace garden with a barbecue. A small part of the house, completely independent, is available to the property.
The house is a strategic starting point for tours and excursions in the Lower Umbria. you can reach by car Spoleto, Spello, Assisi, Lioness, Terni, Marmore Falls and Terminillo in 30-60 minutes; Rome and Perugia in 90 minutes. With less than 30 minutes you can reach sport centers for practicing canyoning, rafting, fishing horse riding. Trails for hiking, mountain biking and road bikes are on hand.
This house is on the edge of a small village 30 minutes from Spoleto. It is extremely well kept and entirely private. From the back terrace, you have stunning, unobstructed views up a very steep, wooded river valley -- very dramatic. The house itself is clean and well-appointed. There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with two twin beds. The kitchen is a bit small, but serviceable, and we were able to make what we needed without a problem: pasta, salad, wine, coffee, all of which we ate on the terrace. We explored a few of the trails in the area, which were interesting (I am told that there is an actual hermit living some ways above the village -- shades of Arcadia -- but we didn't see him). Having somewhat limited time, we also used the house as a base to see some of the great sights of the area, such as Casteluccio which (don't quote me on this: I was enjoying the scenery and we stopped for lunch in Norcia) is about an hour away in the Parco dei Monti Sibillini -- a gorgeous spot. Andrea and his cousin Paolo couldn't have been more helpful or more unobtrusive. Hope you enjoy their house as much as we did.
Lovely house with lots of original features. Amazing location if you want to get away from it all and enjoy nature. A spectacular view from the terrace - a lovely way to start the day. The house was very clean and had everything we needed. As it says in the description, there is a kitchenette not a kitchen but this has all the basics you need. Andrea, the owner, was really helpful and there was great contact before and during the stay. Would definitely recommend this place!
We can only confirm the other reviews, the house is beautiful, situated in a wonderful place, a breathtaking view, absolute quietness, ideal for who wants to relax or as a base to visit the region. The kitchen though is a bit less practical.
Andrea, who we didn’t have the pleasure to meet because he wasn’t there at the moment, and Paolo his cousin who replaced him are very nice and helpful people.
In short, a house and a place that we surely recommend.

The fortified villages of Castellonalto and Castellonbasso born to protect the Abbey of San Pietro in Valle guarding the ancient trade route linking the Papal States and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies.
the village of Catellonalto passed unscathed the destruction of the building as 50-60 years until the '70s could only be reached with a mule.
Although not the subject of a systematic intervention in urban renewal, has significant elements of interest and an absolutely tight to the original urban pattern.
In the '70s this village housed over 300 people living in autarky almost full, they are today little more than a dozen residents and constitute the historical memory of the country, the living museum of a way of life that will soon no longer exist anymore.
