Great comfortable beautiful getaway

  • 4 of 5

We loved this unique property. Plenty of room. Peaceful. Great large yard for games. Only negative was the cleanliness. Kitchen pots and pans and cupboards very dirty. We had to empty dishwasher and fold towels from dryer. No big deal, but another indication of not walk in ready. Couldn't find sheets for pull out sofa. Very little silverware.

I do highly recommend this property for its beauty and peacefulness. Would love to see more effort in housekeeping.

Owner's Response: Thank You for your thoughtful review of our Log House. We also were not satisfied with the slips in housekeeping, and have hired a new service to double down on maintaining the property. We have also updated some of the Kitchen appliances as they were nearing their useful life. We ARE happy you enjoyed your stay. The Log House is a unique property and our family was happy to share it with yours.

Beautiful Holiday Stay

  • 4 of 5

Our family (including 2 dogs and a 3 month old) stayed here over New Years. It was a beautiful, quiet location. Easy to get to from Ligioner and worth the trip! We found the "new wing" of the house very comfortable with heating, large master bedroom and attached bath. The kitchen (as other renters have commented before) is a little out-dated however they do supply most of your cooking needs. Wifi worked well. The house has an air of "old world charm" and "cozy cottage." We enjoyed a nice wood fire in the living room and played games most of our stay. Brian got in touch with us earlier in the week and on the day of our visit (via text) and was there to meet us to show us around the cabin that evening. Would recommend for those looking to stay in the area!

A magic place

  • 4 of 5

The cabin is wonderful. It is almost utterly private -- the only creatures you will see are deer. The house itself is 200 years old, and charmingly outfitted and appropriately so. The modern extension is stylistically consistent, and is air conditioned, which was wonderful in the blazingly hot August when we were there. (The air con doesn't really extend to the old cabin, but that's okay.)

Nick was solid and professional, and we were met by Brian, who was staying at the large family house nearby (though scarcely visible through the trees.) Brian was always helpful and super-nice. Everything was well maintained and clean.

The only comments I would offer Brian and Nick are -- to upgrade the kitchen. The stove smoked furiously, but did not set off the smoke alarm (batteries?) The sink faucet sprayed in your face. Some implements are missing. It's all kind of 25 years old or more.

Also -- an outdoor eating area, or just a picnic table would be great. A BBQ might be nice... there is a firepit, but hard to cook on it without the right equipment.

The TV is small and ancient, but we didn't come to watch TV! Others might feel differently.

On the whole, this is a wonderful, magical place that would be ideal even for two families. The cost is quite high, and for that money it would be awful nice to have a more functional kitchen. But I would return. We made wonderful memories.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the thoughtful review. As you suggested, we are adding a picnic table on the side deck and a small breakfast table on the front porch. The Weber gas grill is back from repair and the maintenance items in the kitchen being corrected. A new LCD TV will replace the small SONY that had served us well for 20 years on the satellite Dish, and will make Streaming video on our WiFi Internet easier. Thanks again and we hope to see you again next summer.

Amazing atmosphere

  • 4 of 5

Simply adorable. The pictures do not do this property justice! Cabin is much bigger than it appears, and the newer addition blends in beautifully with the older part of the house. The property is the best part, with a wonderfully large, flat yard with plenty of open space and shady trees. The furnishings and antiques add to the ambiance.

The owner/agents were very attentive and texted or emailed immediately when we had a question.

Only down side was that the kitchen could be a bit better stocked with cooking utensils, wine glasses, baking pans, cutting knives etc. - fine for a small group, but a bit tough to cook a large meal.

Over all and excellent location, close to town, but a world away! Will definitely go back.
