Had a great week in this property with our friends
Villa fully equipped with all essentials - loads of outdoor space and very quiet location. Very comfortable for six adults and it was wonderful to have a beautiful pool and great weather. Hopefully we will return.
Thank you for your lovely review. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you back at some time in the future.

Comfortable and well equipped villa with stunning views
We enjoyed a fantastic ten days at Casa Strathroy. The villa itself is well equipped and very comfortable. The weather reached 40 degrees whilst we were there but the pool and air conditioning kept us nice and cool. It was a ten minute drive to Pinoso and during our stay was the local annual fiestas with entertainment, street stalls and a fairground every evening until the early hours. The villa is ideally located with stunning scenery just outside of Pinoso so you can't hear the 'Barracas' until 6am! We would definitely recommend the Los Gabriellas bodega for local wine situated on the road out of Canada del Trigo.
Thank you very much for your feedback, Andrew. We are really glad you enjoyed your stay in our home and took the time to get involved with the local fiesta - it's a time when the town has very special atmosphere.
Hideaway in rural Spain
The first thing was learning to think on a different level (compared to British, certainly SE England) to find the property. Once found, up a track, it was obvious that peace and quiet were guaranteed. We found the house, facilities etc to be excellent, and the air conditioning a necessity during our stay. Proportions of living areas/bedrooms was good and the provision of bikes etc much appreciated. Having our own pétanque pitch was novel too. The pool was generously sized compared to previous villas and would have been used much more but for the whole area suffering from a high number of wasps (by no means unique to the villa)
All in all, a very well equipped villa, and a. good property to relax in.
We would also recommend the heladeria in Pinoso, but don't be fooled by the tub sizes - only go for the large size if you're very much in need of ice cream.
Thank you very much for your kind words, David. We are glad you and your family enjoyed your stay in our home. 2017 definitely seems to have been the "year of the wasp" in the Alicante/Murcia provinces - it has been the topic of many a post on the Pinoso FB page and I'm sorry they seemed to have interfered with your peaceful enjoyment of the pool.
Villa near Pinoso
Excellent location in rural Spain. Beautiful panoramic setting close to small friendly village and nearby town of Pinoso. Clean bright and fresh, secure and spacious garden. First class pool
Thank you for taking time to leave your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay.
The town of Pinoso derives the majority of its wealth from the marble quarries in the area. A "must" is the well organised and very informative trip to a relatively small quarry in La Romaneta.
The area is also part of the wine tourism region. Cañada del Trigo boasts three bodegas within walking distance of the villa. There are many others within a short drive, and some have a "try before you buy" policy.
There are many lovely restaurants close by for fine dining, tapas bars in which to sample a variety of local dishes, family oriented cafe/restaurants and even somewhere to tuck into a proper British Sunday roast, if you really must.
There are a number of cycling and walking trails close by, and El Carche, part of the natural park, is an interesting ride or climb for those with stamina to take up the challenge.
Market days are Saturday (Pinoso) and Tuesday (Jumilla), when the town are buzzing and food is plentiful and cheap.
Castles, castles everywhere. Jumilla, Novelda, Sax, and Onil are only four of the Moorish castles within a short drive of the house. Well worth a visit - particularly the town of Novelda, where there is also a stunning Art Deco townhouse open for viewings, along with a small sanctuary reminiscent of Gaudi's famous Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.
There is karting in Villena, a hot springs open air pool in Baños de Fortuna, petanque in Paredon and Badminton in Pinoso - lots to keep the youngsters amused, if you can tear them away from the villa's pool.
However, if all you require from your holiday is some peace and quiet with superb views and some stunning sunsets to be enjoyed with a good book and a glass of local wine, then this is just the place for you.
