A delightful farm cottage in a peaceful rural setting with a large open fireplace and exposed timbers in the living room. The owners of the cottage live in the adjacent farm house. The cottage has been converted in recent years, and will sleep up to four in a double and a twin bedroom. The bathroom has a traditional roll top bath with shower over. Outside there is an enclosed patio with table and chairs for meals or drinks in the open air. From the cottage there is easy access to footpaths to Stopham and Fittleworth the two adjacent villages, and beautiful views to the South Downs. Please note that children under the age of 6 are not permitted.
Stopham is a small village a little to the east of Petworth, now home to a vineyard producing small quantities of English sparkling wine. The river Arun close by is crossed by a medieval stone bridge, now closed to motor traffic. On the far side of the bridge is the White Hart pub, and further on is the larger village of Pulborough with its supermarkets and shops as well as a railway station. Petworth to the west is a town with a number of independent shops, and places to eat. It is perhaps best known for Petworth House and Park. Further west is Midhurst, with polo at Cowdray Park, and the Tudor Cowdray Ruins to visit. To the south, and across the South Downs, is Arundel and the Sussex Coast. Arundel has the Castle and Cathedral to explore, and the coast at Climping is an unspoilt stretch of the Sussex Coast, with a large beach when the tide is out.
My wife, daughter, and I spent 10 amazing nights in this beautiful cottage. It was so perfect! Everything we could have ever wanted in a rental for a trip.
The location was very convenient for us, with friends in Worthing. It also provided a nice place to relax after long days spent exploring the area.
We loved having a full kitchen for preparing meals when we wanted, but there is an amazing pub, The White Hart, within a quarter of a mile.
The nice cozy living room with fireplace was so enjoyable.
Beautiful little country cottage - isolated down a small lane, however we felt safe - very comfortable bed, and a living room well designed for an hour or so of book reading. Would be even better in winter with the fire. Kitchen was good - had everything needed - even a sharp knife. Bathroom OK ( but chic )Take some herbs and spices if you are into cooking. One of our better experiences ( and we do this all the time ). The hosts were very friendly and helpful. Totally recommendable.
