A traditional 17th Century cottage, beautifully restored to provide a charming holiday home with modern creature comforts.
Ivy Cottage looks every inch the traditional country cottage, with its sash windows, stone walls and clay tiled roof. Inside it has cosy living rooms, and a large conservatory taking in views of the cottage garden beyond. The kitchen is modern, and well equipped, whilst upstairs there are two double and one twin bedroom as well as a luxurious shower room. There is also a family bathroom, with traditional roll top bath, on the ground floor. The cottage garden is full of herbaceous plants, making it a colourful patchwork in the summer months, and the perfect place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet.
Pulborough is a village on the edge of the South Downs National Park, and close to Arundel, Chichester and Worthing. The Roman road called Stane Street crossed the river Arun at Pulborough, and there are two medieval stone bridges very close by. Pulborough is home to the RSPB's Pulborough Brooks reserve, a large area of wetland and water meadow that is a popular destination for over wintering migratory birds, and a varied permanent bird population. A little further away on the edge of Storrington is Parham House, a magnificent privately owned Elizabethan House, which is open on various dates in the summer months. Arundel Castle to the south is also open seasonally, and along with Petworth House to the west provides one of the architectural highlights of this part of West Sussex. Goodwood is slightly further to the west, where horse racing and motor sport are on offer. The Sussex coast is also within easy reach, as is Midhurst for polo at Cowdray Park.
