Romantic and relaxing holiday cottage for two on the edge of Petworth, with views to the front over the Shimmings Valley, and just a short walk from the town centre.
Honeysuckle Cottage is full of character, with a spacious sitting room leading via a couple of steps to a kitchen and dining area ideal for meals taken at home. The first floor is reached by a spiral staircase, and has a bathroom with bath, WC and basin and an adjacent bedroom with king sized bed. There is plenty of hanging space for clothes on the landing outside the bedroom, and bath robes are provided.
Petworth is perhaps best known for Petworth Park and Petworth House. The Park was landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown in the 18th Century, and is a superb example of the picturesque landscape which became a popular replacement of the more formal design of gardens that preceded it. The House is justifiably thought of as one of the treasure houses of England. Turner spent time at Petworth, and a number of his works are still on show at Petworth House, along with many more beautiful paintings and sculptures. It's certainly a place in which to spend a few hours, and only a few minutes walk from Honeysuckle Cottage. Petworth is only a short distance from the South Downs, and sits within the South Downs National Park. South of The Downs lies the cathedral city of Chichester, with all of the attractions you would expect from the county town of West Sussex. There is a good range of restaurants and cafes to choose from, and for the culturally inclined there is Pallant House Gallery, The Chichester Festival Theatre and a multi screen cinema.
