Secluded villa with unshared pool (Jun-Sep) surrounded by an acre of olive trees

Overview

About the property

Free wi-fi and free air-conditioning, BBQ, dishwasher and huge covered terrace

The villa is set in the heart of the Salento countryside, a wonderfully rustic and timeless part of Puglia in the deep south of Italy. It is extremely well-appointed, with modern facilities throughout and a huge terrace surrounding the entire property, ideal for eating, relaxing and sunbathing. The villa has been insulated to keep it pleasantly cool even during the hottest months, but there is also free air-con in the bedrooms and ceiling fans throughout. There are two double bedrooms, 2 shower rooms (one en-suite), free wi-fi, and a family-sized kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. The living area has a TV with a large library of recent films, and a sofa bed providing extra sleeping capacity for 2 further guests.

We have a hectare of land with olive groves, fruit trees and a vineyard, a stone BBQ, and we are developing a garden with lawn and local flora. There is a swimming pool (June - September) with its own dedicated terrace available for guests' exclusive and private use. The villa is peaceful and secluded, with the owners living only 100m away and always on hand to provide any advice or assistance. We are conveniently located in the middle of the Salento region, 20 minutes from the nearest beach and within striking distance of the entire peninsula. Salento has remained unchanged for generations: it is covered with thousands of acres of olive trees, has historic towns and villages, a spectacular coastal road, and countless beaches and coves. Although popular with Italian holidaymakers, it is seldom visited by foreign tourists and the locals will invariably give you a warm welcome. We are also less than half an hour from the wonderful Baroque city of Lecce, probably one of the most beautiful, atmospheric and yet least-visited of major Italian cities. A holiday in Salento is ideal for people who enjoy beach life, or exploring little-known corners of the Mediterranean - or who just want to relax in comfort, soaking up the summer sun.

About Bill

I moved to Puglia in 2008 with my partner and children, one of whom was born in Italy. We bought the rental villa and then the family house we now live in 100m away. The experience of buying and renovating these two properties encouraged us to start a small property business helping people find, buy and renovate their dream home in the Mediterranean. Why Bill chose Cutrofiano

The villa is secluded and yet near to neighbouring towns; it is surrounded by olive groves and fruit trees; and it is right in the centre of the Salento region of Puglia, providing access to both the Adriatic and Ionian coastlines and their countless coves, bays and beaches.

What makes this villa unique

This area of Puglia is as yet largely undiscovered by foreign tourists, providing one of the last corners of Italy that genuinely offers a taste of Italian rural life as it has been lived for generations. The people are warm and welcoming, and there are countless bars and restaurants offering exceptionable value for money and quality: eating out - and food more generally - are local obsessions. The cuisine, not to mention absurdly cheap wine, should not be missed!

Perfectly Delightful Cottage in Puglia

  • 5 of 5

We stayed four nights at this absolutely charming little farmhouse in Puglia. The cottage is set on its own and there is complete privacy. There is a lovely patio that looks out onto olive groves. It is so lovely to sit outside and enjoy the view. The cottage itself is wonderful. It is modern, tastefully decorated, and spotlessly clean (which is of upmost importance to me). The owners have thought of every convenience and it takes no time at all to feel at home in this charming villa. There is a town nearby (5 min drive?) Cutrofiano, which is convenient for groceries, etc; however, the owners graciously have fresh milk, pasta, and other bits to get you settled so you don't have the sense to arrive and then have to leave again to get supplies. The location, as far as I was concerned, was fabulous. And easy drive to either coast. The owners live nearby but we did not see them once, except upon arrival; however, they are available should we have needed anything. In all, I completely recommend this great little place and will definitely suggest it to my friends if/when they travel to this gorgeous region. Thank you Bill for providing such a wonderful place to stay in Puglia!!

Fantastic location & very nice, comfortable villa

  • 5 of 5

We actually run some luxury holiday cottages in Cornwall so were looking for something similar and Casa della Mora didn't disappoint. Very nice, peaceful and tranquil setting amongst olive groves. Nicely refurbed building to a very good standard and nice, comfortable, and well thought out furniture and fittings even down to some 3 pin socket extensions. USB hard drive with decent films on was a real bonus and great idea. Even the TV is a good quality Samsung flatscreen. Excellent kitchen and pretty much everything you good think of in there. Pool is very nice too.

Bill is a top bloke too. Really couldn't be more helpful but discreet enough to not be there all the time too. Can't recommend him and Tracy enough.

We would definitely stay here again.

A little bit of paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous house where the owner photos do not do it justice - it is beautiful. It's a very private environment even though the owners are not far away and are very helpful but not intrusive. The nearest town has many amenities and is only a 5 minute drive away with really friendly locals. The house itself is lovely and has been thoughtfully renovated with everything you could possibly need for a perfect holiday. There is a file of all the information you need alongside recommendations for local restaurants, maps to a variety of areas of interest (if you can tear yourself away)

I can't recommend this place highly enough - peace, tranquillity with easy access to all local areas of interest; perfect.

Perfect holiday in a gorgeous villa.

  • 5 of 5

Bill and Tracy's villa is gorgeous - much bigger than it looks in the photos with beautiful high ceilings throughout. We felt like we were the first people to stay there as there are no signs of wear and tear anywhere! Unlike a lot of holiday villas, it didn't feel like the furniture was spare bits of stuff left over from another house, but everything has been cleverly thought out to suit the place. There was plenty of space for your own stuff, a big cabinet in the bathroom, uncluttered shelves and a very well-equipped modern kitchen, with lovely crockery and glassware - it made cooking very enjoyable. Lovely comfortable beds with good mattresses, high quality bedlinen and towels, even lovely thick John Lewis towels for the pool. With shutters and windows, and absolutely no noise, you sleep extremely well. There is air con in the bedrooms but we didn't need it - if you open the windows and shutters during the day there's a lovely breeze through the villa.

The double-height patio on the front of the house is enormous - almost as big as the entire villa with a beautiful toffee-coloured wooden ceiling - which is lovely for meals and a shaded afternoon snooze on the loungers. We only ate inside once and made good use of the barbecue. The pool is great too, and the large elevated terrace around the pool means you get a breeze and a great view of the surrounding olive groves and the house, which is surrounded by fruit trees, grass and flowers, and it's far enough away from the house for sound not to travel too far. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water as well.

A great asset is the very good internet signal - we could use Spotify for music which would transmit to our speaker by the pool. A great selection of films on the hard drive as well.

We didn't go very far as one of our group had a broken foot! We stocked up at the big supermarket (Conad) and got local stuff from Alda just up the road from the villa. However the local pizzeria in Collepasso has a roof terrace and we ate in Cutrofiano as well. It's good for running in the olive groves (nice and flat!) and no chance of running into any traffic. Bill and Tracy's guide to the place is very comprehensive and they're always on hand to answer any questions.

It's easy to find as well - you can see the pool on Google maps. Stick to Bill's directions and you can't go wrong. All in all, a perfect holiday. I plan to go back again next year, preferably later when the figs are ripe!

Kleines komfortables Haus in ruhiger Lage

  • 5 of 5

Franz
