In the woods on Silver Lake this modern cabin has a kitchen with microwave and all amenities including coffee maker and espresso machine. Living/dining room overlooking Silver Lake with 3 French doors opening on a nice deck for having a cup of blueberry coffee. No need to worry about finding a laundromat as there are a washer and dryer in the basement. The master bedroom, with a high queen bed, is up the open stairway overlooking the deck and lake. Books, DVDs, puzzles, and games are at your disposal. Each bedroom has its own TV/DVD. This quiet cabin is 45 minutes north of Bangor, ME between Lincoln and Lee.
Like to hike? Like to ride your four-wheeler? Like to just sit and drink blueberry coffee and do nothing?! This is the place to do it! Lots of trails right behind the house. Canoeing is a good option also. Bring your best four-legged friend and hang out at the Lake!
In the area: Also in the area are restaurants in Lincoln and Lee, with a hospital with ER in Lincoln only 9 miles away. In Lincoln also are a WalMart and Hannaford grocery. Plenty of gift shops and antique shops are in the area as well has horseback riding.
For those in a gambling mood Bangor has a casino. And Bangor is also the home of Stephen King! Perhaps you will pass him on the street!
James bought the house as a retirement home. BUT he knew that retirement was a long way in the future so he outfitted it like he would like to see it and decided to rent it out so others could enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of Maine.
When we met he said he would never be able to see Maine again...as he had lived there as a young man and went to school for college there. This proves him wrong!!
Matilda Jamison purchased this cabin in 2005
We looked at homes in Vermont and New Hampshire because we thought Maine was totally out of the price range. But Maine is where we both wanted to be. He found this one on his own and I got to pick between two. This one is the winner!
Quiet, quiet, quiet!! Not in a subdivision! Lake to look out at one side and woods the other. My kind of living!
We just returned from our 2 week vacation and I must say this cabin has got to be the most comfortable place we've stayed at. Not one detail was forgotten (master bed was so comfortable!!). A few of our favorite moments: sitting on the deck and staring at the water for hours, the day Hurricane Daniel rolled in and we were all snuggled watching movies, playing a vicious game of Uno with friends for hours, listening to the loons all day, watching a bald eagle as he was perched in a pine tree on the property.....the list goes on. The neighbors were terrific and didn't mind Jett, our nosey black lab, peeking in their homes. So if you're looking for the comforts of your own home, but also want the 'cabinish' feel - this is the place. Thank you James & Tillie for sharing your home with us. We hope to make it back again soon.
The house was very clean. Everything you could want or need was there. James and Tillie thought of everything for their guests. The view was incredible. Every morning we enjoyed our coffee on the deck looking out at the water. Just what we were looking for. Very quiet peaceful and relaxing. Would love to go back next year .
We had a great mini vacation! Loved the open feel of the house with the high ceilings and lighting. Great backyard area with large deck to relax and look out over the lake. Our boys loved being able to run around and play on the swing set. Great space for our dog also to move around and explore but I could still see her. We loved the dog toys and beds out for our fur baby. ( we put most of the toys away until we left though because our baby will destroy anything with a squeaker).
The boys got to go out and explore with the canoe while I sat on the dock reading my book. We were hoping for some fishing off of the dock, but it was really too shallow around the area to really do much other than enjoy the peace. My oldest and I got up every morning to see the sunrise over the lake, which was beautiful! And listening to the loons! Loved the sound of the loons!
I would have to say the only major thing we had a problem with was the stairway upstairs. The railings were really wobbly and some loose so we tried to keep the boys downstairs because I didn't want to take the chance of them falling. Other than that I would definitely stay here again. If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet area to relax, this is a good home to rent!
Thank you James and Tillie for opening your home to us!! We had a fantastic vacation!
Our group gets together every year on MLK weekend for snowmobiling and ice fishing. This year we chose to stay at "The Cabin" and cannot speak highly enough of the accommodations! From a spacious, open concept downstairs to beautiful views of Silver Lake from the master bedroom we enjoyed our time together and are very grateful for the use of such a nice home. The Cabin has every feature and accessory needed to have fun indoors or outside around the house or lake. Though not usually a requirement of our time there was a big screen tv to watch the Patriots beat the Chiefs (bring it on Denver!!)as well as movies and game consoles if we wanted to use them. Board games and books located throughout the home for playing or quiet time. We were also close enough to the many lakes in the area and thankfully had just enough ice to land a 20" trout on a neighboring lake which was delicious cooked the next morning! Thanks again for the great memories and look forward to returning in the future!!! Alex and "The Guys"
It was better than expected. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is visiting Maine.
Beautiful house with large main room, 2 story beamed ceiling. Just gorgeous. Nice deck, nice dock on a pretty lake, quiet and relaxing. House was very clean on arrival, lot's of dishes etc. Had fun using their canoe on the lake.
Lee and Silver Lake in Maine are 45 minutes from Bangor, two hours from Acadia State Park and Bar Harbor, and a very short drive to Baxter State Park home of Mt. Katahdin. There are snowmobile trails behind the house and plenty to see in both Bangor and Bar Harbor and in between. In the winter the cabin is about 3 miles from a ski slope for $20/day and in the summer just a couple more miles to the beach outside of Lee. If you like boating you may bring your own to put in at Lee and dock at the cabin or take the canoe for a tool about the lake and surrounding areas. Or perhaps a day trip to Canada which is only an hour away.
