Interaction with Guests:
I am often travelling with work and recently relocated to Gloucester. My close friend Nicola oversees all bookings and changeovers with guests and will be available to help you during your stay. Nicola is from York and still lives in the city with her young family and will be able to provide advice on things to do, places to eat, etc. in York and the surrounding area.
The property is located 10-mins walk of the city walls and Gillygate, which has a variety of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and bistros and only 15-mins walk for the famous York Minster that lies in the heart of York City Centre.
York is a renowned historical tourist destination, with a variety of shops, bars and restaurants plus tourist attractions such as the Shambles, York Minster, the Yorvik Viking Centre and the National Rail Museum.
There is easy access to the surrounding countryside such as the North Yorkshire Moors and coast, Castle Howard and Beningborough Hall.
There is good access to York City Centre with a frequent bus service or 10-min walk to Gillygate and the city walls. The city centre is a short 15-min walk.
The nearby (2-min walk) frequent bus route takes you directly to/from York Station (which is otherwise a 25-min walk or a 5-min (traffic dependent) taxi ride. The bus route will also take you to various parts of the city centre.
York has excellent rail links as it is a rail hub located on the East Coast Intercity line from London to Edinburgh and the transpennine route from Manchester (including a direct train from Manchester Airport), Leeds and more.
There is information on taxi services provided in the property information pack. Taxis from the station are available without booking.
Other Things to Note:
The main cooker is an AGA (mains gas fuelled). If you prefer there are numerous restaurants, takeaways and shops within easy reach (there is a microwave too!).
We recently stayed at the house with our grown up children and new grandchild for an early Christmas get together. From the start Roger made it very easy with the booking and accomdated our needs. We arrived to a lovely gift box and a beautiful warm house.
The house is a real home from home well equipped. Easy distance to town. We are looking at booking again.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay in this property.
The house it's self is beautiful with lovely comfortable beds and clean fluffy towels. The kitchen /dining room is a great space and very well equipped.
Location wise it's only a short walk to the city centre and we found it very convenient.
Thanks for having us Roger!!
We stayed here for a family birthday celebration and had a wonderful weekend. The kitchen/diner is beautiful and everything you could possibly need is already there. The rooms are great sizes and the beds are super comfy. It is such a short walk into the City giving you the opportunity to explore! I couldn't recommend this place more - we will definitely stay again. Thank you!
Wow! Such a lovely house. So homely and spacious. Really made our girlie weekend special. Everyone was so comfortable in them lovely beds. We literally didn't want to leave. The owner kept us up to date with everything and made us feel at ease that we could get in touch with any questions. I really will be definitely be returning to York soon as there's so much to do and see, and it will definitely be this house I will return to. Thank you so much.
Lovely property and well equipt with a lovely welcoming basket.
Could not fault anything and lovely soft towels provided for everyone.
With comfortable beds and bedding and lovely spacious rooms.
Parking for 2 cars was also good.
A short walk to York was fine.
Will certainly be visiting York again and
would come to this property again.
Grace and family.
After three nights in a Bath hotel, we welcomed a more relaxed atmosphere. The York house was exactly as advertised. Well maintained, tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. I must admit, that at first we struggled with the AGA stove but after the first meal (travelling with 4 hungry teenagers, dining out was out of the question) we understood how it worked and we were fine. The kids quickly took over the living room and made it their own while the adults enjoyed a beer or glass of wine in the kitchen. As for York, wow! what a terrific, pedestrian friendly city. The sights were a marvel, the history intriguing and overall a terrific experience.
