Great apartment close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in Luigi's apartment! It worked well for our family - three sisters with two significant others and one nephew. Having two bathrooms was great, and the bedrooms were roomy and comfortable. The best thing about this apartment though is the location in the center of Rome, within walking distance to so many things. And just across the Ponte Sisto from Trastevere for those who want a more active night life. Lots of good restaurants around and a gelateria right next to the entrance to the building. What more could you want?

the saving grace of my entire trip

  • 5 of 5

luigi's apartment was perfect for my multi-generational, multi-cultural "family renunion" in rome! it was the saving grace of the entire "not-so-easy" trip, it helped me keep my sanity! i have been traveling to italy regularly and extensively for the past 13 years, and been to rome almost 10 times alone. because of my familiarity with rome and italy in general, my 86 year old parents and 58 year brother suggested that we meet in rome as a family while my elderly parents could still travel.my husband had never traveled with an entire chinese family!😆 so i knew i needed a large enough apartment to accommodate all the strong personalities, individual habits and quirks, and preferences.i read about luigi's apartment and knew location was perfect. i was just hoping that everything else was as good as described. a comfortable bed and quietness are criritical for me when i am on the road, esp when i have to be the travel agent, the tour guide and the baby sitter.the apartment turned out better than pictures! it is ENORMOUS! the living room is much bigger than the pictures showed. what i appreciate most is its layout. living room is on one side, away from the 2 bedrooms. so when my parents get up so early, they can go and play without disturbing me. 2 bedrooms are on the interior courtyard side and are truly quiet.all beds and linens are high quality and super comfy. it also has the best windows. no matter how noisy it gets outside, you close the window, all becomes quiet. luigi also has quiet neighbors, something one hardly has control over but just have to go by luck! i also love the fact that this apartment is old fashioned and kitchen has a double door. again, when i travel in group, privacy is very important for me. it is located on the rome side with COOP market right downstairs, so is a local cafe (that doesn't charge "tourist" rate!) walking distance to all the "landmark". most beautiful part? it is next to ponte sisto, probably one of the most popular and vibrant scene with restaurants and street musicians. trastevere is not a neighborhood you want to stay in, but it does have some of the best restaurants without a hefty price! being just on the other side of the bridge, you get the best of two worlds! last but not the least, luigi is the sweetest guy you can possible have as an owner. he helped my husband transport his bike and luggage to the hotel for his bike tour, free! he also arranged all the private transfer for us! most helpful!

A comfortable home away from home

  • 3 of 5

This apartment was large, clean and very comfortable. Within walking distance of the Pantheon, Piazza Narvona, Campo di Fiori, the Trevi Fountain and so many stunningly beautiful churches. What makes it exceptional is Luigi Bernasconi who manages the apartment. He arranged a car to pick us up at the airport and was waiting at the entrance to the building when we arrived. Then he whisked our luggage (four people's worth) into the elevator and from there into the apartment. Unlike our previous rental where a young woman took the remainder of the rental fee and shot out the door, Luigi spent 10-15 minutes explaining everything about the apartment and pointed out the small hotel across the street saying it served a very good buffet breakfast for 15 Euros. It was wonderful and I know I will wake up many mornings wishing I could experience it again. So good. He then walked us to a bank so we could use the ATM. On the way he pointed out restaurants saying, "These are the restaurants the Romans go to, not the tourist restaurants."

Luigi is a treasure. Always there to help.. I highly recommend you stay at this apartment.

Huge apartment, great location

  • 4 of 5

Luigi's apartment is huge in size, especially in Rome and considering the convenient location to the Campo/Navona/Pantheon and Trastevere areas. All other sights are in easy walking distance. Luigi was a very helpful and accomodating host, always willing to assist in anyway he can. The apartment could however do with a little updating in terms of taps/showerheads, and a little decluttering to make it even more airy and large. Minor things to make a wonderful apartment perfect.

Great apartment in a terrific location, with a wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 was recently in Rome for three days, and rented this VRBO property. I have done other VRBOs before (in France), but this one was exceptional. The owner Luigi met us at the apartment and then took us on a walking tour of the neighborhood, giving us lots of valuable information for local businesses and attractions. He is very pleasant and very easy to reach, like when we suddenly had no hot water in the shower. (Turns out that the hot water heater is turned on and off with a regular wall switch.) The location is superb - less than a half hour walk west to the Vatican or east to the Colosseum and Forum. There are walks to do in Rick Steves guidebook for Rome that start just minutes from the apartment door. The apartment itself, located on the fourth floor of a secure and classy building, is huge by European standards and could easily accommodate six people. (There are three bedrooms, each with a comfortable queen bed, a large living room and a kitchen/dining area.) Although we didn't cook anything, the kitchen is well equipped, and there are two bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a shower. If there was one negative, it's that sometimes there was a bit of street noise in the evening from passing pedestrians, but we were fine when sleeping. I would recommend this apartment without reservation and would gladly stay there again.
