Photos and Description of this 6 bedroom holiday estate in Norwalk - New Haven Manor

House, 5+ Bedrooms (See Description), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 19+)

A private road leads to this beautiful country manor where peace and quiet abound. Located among a large Amish community, the house is nestled on 85 acres of woods and pasture with hiking trails, biking trails, fishing hole and wildlife viewing.

Perfect for a family, group, wedding or a retreat vacation. There are six bedrooms, three large full baths and loads of room in this 4200 square foot manor. There are two over-sized bedrooms with king beds; four bedrooms with queen beds; and three queen size convertible beds that are very comfortable. We also have a daybed and two queen size blow up mattresses available for large groups. There are 6 private bedrooms in the house, however, one of the bedrooms is accessible only through another room.

New Haven is a nature lover's paradise. You can go bird watching (eagles, hawks, cardinals, etc), deer watching, bunnies galore, mushroom hunting, ginseng hunting, or just relax on the front porch listening to the frogs and Amish buggies in the distance. You could also pick your own apples off our private apple trees and bake a fresh apple pie in New Haven's extra large kitchen.

There's plenty of hiking and playing room too. You can play Bocce ball on the front lawn, hillbilly golf or have a picnic in the fields.

Within minutes you could be on the Sparta Elroy bike trail, canoeing down the Kickapoo River, horseback riding, or enjoying Wildcat State Park. Many motorcycle enthusiasts enjoy the famed rural roads of the area, including those at Wildcat State Park. Fort McCoy offers paintball and laser tag and in winter they offer skiing and tubing hills. Skiing and snowboarding is also available at Mount LaCrosse Ski Area. Snowmobile enthusiasts can enjoy the many snowmobile trails in the area. December 4 & 5, 2015 the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be in the area.

In the house you will find maps to activities including: Ontario, Wisconsin (for canoeing trips), Wildcat State Park (for hiking and motorcycling), Sparta (for golf), The Sparta/Elroy bicycling trail ( http://www.elroy-sparta-trail.com/ ), local restaurants and grocery stores, and a specialty map detailing the Amish stores, bakeries and tours in the area.

New Haven is a perfect retreat from Chicago (3.5 hours), Madison (2 hours), Wisconsin Dells (1 hour), Minneapolis (2.5 hours), La Crosse (45 minutes), Warrens Cranfest (40 minutes) and the surrounding areas.

Conveniently located approx. 25 minutes from Tomah and Sparta, WI.

New Haven is now available for weddings! Inquire for further details. Wedding venue fees apply.

**** New Haven may, at times, have cattle and/or horses on the property. If there is livestock on the property guests are not allowed in the fenced areas where the livestock are. The cattle and horses are not pets so you may not feed or attempt to pet them. Enjoy their beauty and company from a distance.

* Daily or weekly housekeeping available from a local Amish family for an additional fee. Inquire if interested.

* Catering available from a local Amish family as well as delivery of Amish baked goods, etc. Inquire if interested.

Memorial Day Family Weekend Getaway and We loved it!

  • 5 of 5

I don't know where to begin! It is an absolutely perfect retreat. When all of us first walked in we were struck by the charm. We explored every room and couldn't help but feel happy! It was so cozy and relaxing. The setting is amazing as we were able to enjoy the peacefulness relax and enjoy time outdoors, this is the place.

I'm a first time user of Vrbo. After narrowing my search I decided to contact the property owner. She's exceptionally kind and answered my questions on the property, location and area activities. After booking, we were so excited to enjoy our time in the country. In arriving to the property, it’s clear home much love and attention is put into this home. It feels so warm and welcoming – our friends and family immediately settled in .

The home is beautifully constructed very comfortable beds nice high vaulted ceilings. And the kitchen…whether experienced or novice, any cook will love all the amenities and accessories. The property is equally as wonderful as the home and combines open space with wooded landscape, and a bubbling trout stream. I can confidently say it feels like a little slice of Heaven!

If you are looking for an escape from hectic life happenings and want to enjoy peace and quiet this is definitely the place for you!

The owner is absolutely wonderful and you can tell they go above and beyond to make your visit the best you have ever had!

Thank you! This was just what our family and friends needed. The kids were outside every day, exploring the property and enjoying the stream. We will definitely come be back!

This has become our go-to spot

  • 5 of 5

Our large group of family and friends have stayed at New Haven five times over the past ten years. We’ve always enjoyed our stay and this has become the go-to spot for our annual winter family get-together. There are lots of kids in our combined families, so we really enjoy how large the house is because it lets them do their own thing without getting underfoot. The kitchen is large enough for us to comfortably cook all the meals that we need to feed the big group and the open layout on the ground floor means we can feel like we're all together without being crowded. There is a cozier room off the kitchen with a fireplace which is perfect for playing games. The property is regularly upgraded, and recently got a new batch of nice living room and bedroom furniture. That means you don’t have to worry about the beds –they’re comfortable — and the rooms are spacious!

We also really like the setting of the house. If you love the terrain and beauty of Wisconsin’s Driftless area, this is the place to be. The house is nested in a little hollow in a serenely quiet valley. Great views and excellent opportunities to walk and hike around or hills to go sledding on. We love it and will certainly keep coming back annually.

Family Gathering

  • 5 of 5

WE gathered our family from Minneapolis, Duluth, Eastern Wisconsin and one from Ohio, and had a fabulous weekend together at New Haven. The house was incredible, with plenty of room for our big family, and everything we needed to make the weekend fantastic. We enjoyed the outdoor beautiful setting and the house had room for everyone to find a space for their activities. We baked and decorated cookies, played games, hiked, had even had some musical jam sessions with guitars ( and no one complained about the noise). Our grandchildren are already begging us to do this again! Everyone loved the house, and it's the perfect place for a multi-generational gathering. (and the best place we've ever played hide and seek!) This place could be a new family tradition for us!
