The town of Fowey, with its annual royal regatta and literary festival, is nearby and makes for an excellent day out, with deep sea fishing trips, kayaking along the tranquil river, and plenty of galleries, shops and cafés all lining the narrow historic streets that lead to the harbour. The village of Polmear, with its local pub, is within easy walking distance for an evening sundowner or great pub meal. The beach at Polkerris is just minutes away and is the archetypal Cornish beach with soft, white sand with adjacent beach bistro, café, ice cream van and local pub, and makes an excellent place to spend the day whatever your age, whether rock pooling, kayaking or just soaking up the view and relaxing on the beach.
