This converted, semi-detached barn enjoys magnificent far reaching views towards Bath and the surrounding peaceful countryside, set within 7 acres of the owner’s smallholding, with pathways through natural woodland, two wildlife ponds, an orchard, a vegetable garden and a polytunnel as well as chickens, ducks, bees, pigs seasonally and sheep. Guests may purchase Laurel Farm honey, eggs and small joints of meat when available. The cottage is designed and finished to a very good standard with oak floors and doors, beams, and is spacious and bright. It has also received the highest gold award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, demonstrating the owner’s commitment to sustainability and the environment. The farm and village of Carlingcott are half way up the historic Cam Valley and a 15-minute walk to the nearest village of Peasedown St John. Gentle sloping walks to Camerton Woods and downhill to the Cam Brook shows off that it is truly rural, and yet only 6 miles to the city of Bath. A very convenient ’Park and Ride’ is available within a few miles of the cottage, to take you into the city centre. Bath is famous as a World Heritage City with many attractions including the sweeping Georgian crescents, the abbey, the Roman Baths and the Aquae Sulis Thermae Bath Spa rooftop pool. The vast array of independent shops, restaurants, galleries, museums and cultural events, and the stunning architecture at every corner, are what makes the city so special. With the Kennet and Avon Canal and the River Avon running through the city, there is ample opportunity for boating, walking and cycling along the towpath. A few miles along the canal is a smaller version of Bath, the town of Bradford-on-Avon with a medieval tithe barn, and along the canal is Devizes, with the largest flight of locks in the UK. Within an hour’s drive visitors can reach Longleat House and Safari Park, Cheddar, Glastonbury, Wells, Bristol, the Cotswolds and the west Somerset coastal resorts. Shop, pub and restaurant within 1 mile.
