Visit Arundel with its castle and various antiques and memorabilia shops and boutiques, as well as Wild Fowl and Wetlands bird centre. The picturesque sailing village of Bosham with a historic church and crafts centre is also a short drive away, and slightly further are Portsmouth to the west with maritime history and famous war ships, Spinnaker Tower and extensive retail shopping outlets, or Brighton to the east, with its Royal Pavilion and cosmopolitan culture. Day trips to the Isle of Wight can be enjoyed from either Portsmouth or Southampton, and the wonderful rolling heathland of the New Forest with roaming ponies can also be easily reached by car. Polo at Midhurst, or visit National Trust homes and gardens including The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum at Singleton, West Dean, Petworth House and Goodwood House.
