This spacious, detached, single-storey holiday home is located in the pretty village of Compton Martin, which is listed in the Domesday Book. There are lovely rural views surrounding the cottage, and in particular from the sun room, which is a lovely spot from which to survey the visiting wildlife and birds. The village sits in the heart of the Chew Valley, surrounded by undulating hills, churches and apple orchards which provide some of Somerset’s finest ciders. Situated at the foothills of the Mendips, it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is situated between Chew Valley Lake and Blagdon Lake which are important sites for birdwatching. Nearby attractions include Cheddar Gorge and caves, Wookey Hole, the small city of Wells with its magnificent cathedral, Bishops Palace, the spiritual town of Glastonbury with its myths and legends, Tor and Abbey, and the coastal resorts and fine sandy beaches at Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on-Sea. Also within an easy drive are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
