There is plenty of wildlife to see, with deer, pine martens, foxes, Scottish wildcat, otters and red squirrels often seen.. This holiday property is situated in a stunning, private, elevated position looking over Loch Awe and the ruins of Finchairn Castle. It has a square enclosed courtyard to the back of the property and a large garden to the front which is bordered by a dry stone wall with far reaching views across the loch. This detached, multi-storey farmhouse is located on Ederline Estate, a family-owned working hill farm, covering around 13000 acres of stunning scenery. The estate is made up of woodland, far reaching moors, 22 lochs; all with wild brown trout which guests are welcome to fish with a fly (£10 per day), and on Loch Ederline guests can fish for pike, perch and roach. Wildlife in the area is legendary, with red and roe deer, pine martens, foxes and red squirrels often seen. The famous Scottish wildcat and otter are also common but not seen as regularly. Golden eagle, osprey, peregrines, black and red throated divers and many other rare species all nest on the estate. The area is rich in history and archaeological sites, with the main concentration in the Kilmartin Glen only a short distance away. On the estate itself there are two ancient chapels and a castle to be explored. Activities include kayaking (£10 per half day, £15 per full day), local pony trekking, and in season, stalking can be arranged. The numerous forest trails and Crinan Canal tow paths are ideal for walking and cycling. Short ferry crossings to Islay, Gigha, Mull and Arran are easily made, or the Kintyre Peninsula offers white sandy beaches and some of the best golf courses in Scotland. There are an abundance of good restaurants in easy motoring distance of Ederline Estate which cater for all tastes with some excellent sea food. Shop and pub 5 miles..
