The house itself is beautiful and set within easy reach of lovely walks and some fantastic restaurants. No issues on arrival, though the entrance gate is after a very sharp and steep corner and opens slowly, so be sure your hand brake is working well. We felt the house was equipped for 4 rather than 6 (4 coat hooks, limited room on boot racks, very cramped dining area with 6 people, 2 x 2 seater sofas in the lounge). Cooking for 6 wasn't made easy with the kitchen equipment provided - eventually found a larger saucepan buried in a cupboard in the hall. No salt in the grinder, the masher handle was broken, one of the non stick pans was in poor condition (no wonder given the metal spatulas provided) and the glasses provided were far from adequate. There were only 2 mismatched low glass tumblers in the cupboard. When I spoke to Nicky to request more, she tersely informed me that these were not part of the provided glassware and that a previous guest must have left bought and left them (wonder why!!). So my Mother in Law had to drink a G&T in a wine glass. Similar customer service experience when enquiring about a poker for the fire, which I was informed wasn't necessary.
We appreciate that it's a old cottage with no double glazing but there was a lot of condensation and mould growth around the windows which wasn't helpful for allergies. The master bedroom has a great view and ensuite with a good strength shower, though there is no door separating it from the bedroom which really isn't ideal. The 2nd bedroom has a tiny but functional ensuite.
