We needed a property that was centrally placed for a few days easy walking and this fitted the bill. The best walk was accessed straight from the door with a picturesque route around Loughrigg tarn and up to the peak where for just a little effort you get a 360 degree view of the Lake District. Another circular walk from the door took us to Colwith Force and on to Ellterwater with the pretty Britannia Inn. A short 3 mile drive over Red Bank takes you to all the walks that Grasmere has to offer.

The flat was a joy to return to in chilly weather as it was always cosily warm with loads of hot water and an enormous bath to relax in. The living/dining/kitchen area is compact but comfortable and very well equipped. The only negative was the poor wifi reception that seemed to come and go and the weak mobile phone signal, though our friends with i pads managed very well.
