Breathtaking 1930's traditional townhouse located in the heart of the Westside. Very close to Beverly Hills, The Century City Mall, UCLA, shops, restaurants, places of worship, LA attractions, and only 15 minutes to the beach.
The unit has been tastefully updated with many of the period details intact. High ceilings, hardwood flooring throughout, recessed halogen lighting on dimmers, new 1080 pixel 40' Samsung LCD high definition flat screen TVs' in living room and master bedroom. New 'memory foam mattress' in each bedroom, extra large bath towels, 1000 thread count sheets, feather/down pillows, and bathrobes. The townhouse is approximately 1500 square feet, and has a fully equipped kitchen, and great formal dining room. Ideal for two couple's, but can comfortably accommodate five people.
Less than a mile (10 minutes walking distance) to UCLA campus, hospital. Quiet neighborhood! Off street parking. Walking distance to grocery store, restaurants and much more.
I have stayed here twice in 2016, with two different groups of 4 people. In my opinion it is clearly the best option for a Westwood visit if you have more than 2 people. It is very spacious, and the beds are comfortable. While it lists for 5, the configuration makes it possible to sleep 7 (2 in one bedroom, 3 in the other, and 2 on the queen-size pull out in the living room). If you use just the upstairs bedrooms, it's wonderful to have the whole downstairs to relax in the evenings or mornings depending on your schedule. The kitchen is well equipped and includes laundry and a tiny powder room. The parking behind the house is extremely convenient and it's a great deal that it's included in the price, because elsewhere in Westwood you would have a parking fee. You can walk to Westwood Blvd and Village easily. The UCLA campus is a bit further and while that makes a nice walk in cooler weather you would likely want to drive there most of the time.
The one caveat is the "historic" piece. For me, the trade-off of charm vs. certain conveniences is worthwhile. But someone not accustomed to old houses could be disappointed with the lack of A/C, the doors that don't close smoothly, and the level of bathroom finishes.
David has been easy to deal with throughout, which I very much appreciate as well. I look forward to my next visit!
My wife and I stayed with our three grown up children for 4 nights. David and his family were so welcoming. The apartment was ideal for us, location being very important for us as we were only staying a few days, and parking very useful too. The location is in a quiet residential area, yet close to Hollywood, Santa Monica beach and only a short trip to Malibu. I would highly recommend David's place.
Our son started grad school at UCLA and we traveled to the area to get him settled. We were looking for somewhere to stay that was close to campus and shopping and this rental was just perfect! UCLA area is just 1 mile away. David was there to greet us when we arrived and was very nice and accessible our entire stay. The rental was clean, large, comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed. (Towels, kitchen supplies, Wi-Fi. etc.) It was also nice to have a parking spot right behind the unit. We enjoyed our stay very much and will definitely be contacting David again the next time we come out to visit our son.
My family was visiting from abroad so obviously wanted to make sure they had a comfortable stay. Unfortunately the rental experience (the middle unit) with David was miserable. Firstly, there were cockroaches in the kitchen (crawling in the cupboards), bathroom and a few dead insects found inside the pull out couch in the living room. Secondly, one of the bedroom doors fell of its hinges, almost dropping on my mother's head. The dishes in the kitchen were greasy, filled with grime, obviously have not been washed or used for a very long time. (Also, just a heads up: there is some kind of hostel facing the unit and the tenants were quite noisy and smoked a lot of pot (which is legal, but some people with families may find that uncomfortable)). Upon explaining to David all the issues we were experiencing, he DID try to help by calling an exterminator and having a maid come by to clean once a week. However, when things did not improve and the bedroom door fell off its hinges a second time and almost hit my mother's head, we decided to break the lease a week early - to which the landlord agreed to refund a week's rent. But he never showed up at the rental to return the money and pick up his keys on move-out day (while we rushed to get out by the indicated time of 10am) and evaded calls and texts for the next 3 days. When we finally met, he avoided refunding the week's rent and instead claimed that he could not get the listing rented so he would only provide us with a 1/3 of the refund. It was only after engaging in a full-out argument with him for an hour, threatening legal action and leaving quite upset, did he finally return to the initially agreed-upon terms. The landlord was very elusive, not transparent and made the entire experience exhausting and messy. I would advise to avoid this rental or at the very least know what you may get yourself into. Videos of the bug-infested couch and photos of the broken bedroom door can be made available upon request.
Enjoyed our stay at David's place while visiting LA. He was really helpful with any questions and his parents live a few doors down so they keep close eye on the place. A parking place right outside the door in the back is also nice. Very well equipped with wifi, many TV's, good kitchen equipment, towels, etc.. Grocery and places to eat are only a few blocks away.
We had planned on leaving after four nights and going to San Diego, but comic con was going on. Ended up extending our stay two days since the place was so nice. Drove down to San Diego during the day.
Being from south Louisiana, we are used to having AC, but this place does not have it. All windows open and fans are in every room. We have friends that live there and they don't have it either, so must be common to just ride out the few hot days. Was never an issue since we did not spend much time there during the day.
Less than a mile away from UCLA, Ucla village, Fine dining, movie theater, Library, freeway. Quiet neighborhood.......
