Set in the rural Devon Heartland, this converted 16th-century watermill retains much of its charm. Laid out over three floors, the mill is skirted by a leat which drops to a waterfall down the side of the holiday property over the old water wheel, where guests can relax on a decked patio area. The workings of the mill and exposed original stone walling have been cleverly restored. All rooms have views overlooking grassy meadows. A private paddock provides perfect surroundings to enjoy a picnic or ‘kick around’. There is a multitude of bridleways and tracks for those who like walking and observing bird and animal life. Village of Chulmleigh is about 4 miles. Nearby attractions include RHS gardens at Rosemoor and numerous NT properties including Castle Drogo, Arlington Court and Knightshayes. Both Exmoor and dartmoor National Parks are within easy reach for those wanting a variety of walks either at novice or more challenging levels of ability. The spectacular beaches of Woolscombe, Putsborough, Croyde, Staunton Sands and Westward Ho! are all within easy driving distance. Not far is the charming village of Chulmleigh with a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants serving good food. The Tarka Trail is also nearby for cycling and walking, and both horse riding and fishing are available locally. During the festive season, the property is decorated with a Christmas theme. Pub 2 miles.
