This holiday cottage is the perfect romantic retreat with its rolling countryside and warm cosy interior.. A romantic holiday retreat, amidst rolling Devonshire countryside, these attractive barn conversions are well-equipped, warm and cosy, providing a rural retreat for couples at any time of the year. Occupying a remote setting on the edge of the village of Littleham, and less than 5 miles from sandy beaches and the breathtaking coastal path. The Old Granary, ref HQL, provides &lsquo;upside-down&rsquo; style of accommodation to take full advantage of the lovely countryside views. Free course fishing is available for guests staying at The Old Granary at the nearby Jennetts Reservoir in Bideford (two rods only). Ash Tree Cottage, ref H37, adjoining The Granary and sharing its views, is single-storey and has French windows leading onto its patio, whilst detached Swallow Cottage, ref HQM, also single-storey, enjoys superb uninterrupted views down the valley. Approached by a private road, the holiday cottages are situated 2 miles from the historic port and market town of Bideford with its variety of shops, pubs and restaurants, and from where regular sailing trips to Lundy Island can be taken. They also lie within easy driving distance of Hartland where the dramatic English Heritage Coastline has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, but there are also many other scenic walks both inland and coastal to enjoy. The pretty fishing villages of Instow, Clovelly and Appledore are close by and well worth a visit, as are a host of other quaint little villages, each with its own unique character, charm and welcoming inn. The Tarka Trail passes close by and offers walking and cycling along the estuary, with cycle hire available. The area is a must for surfers and beach lovers, and the sandy beaches are not to be missed. Fishing, sailing, horse riding and golf are available locally, and Exmoor National Park is within easy reach. Other places of interest are Dartington Crystal, Tapely Park and Gardens, and RHS Rosemoor Gardens, all within 8 miles.
