Superb walking to Cropton Forest and Rosedale starts at the door and a good dining pub is just 200 yards away. Glorious scenic journeys on the North York Moors steam railway to the coast at Whitby, start from Pickering 2.5 miles, also home to good shopping and Flamingo Land theme park, whilst the myriad attractions of York, Scarborough and Robin Hood’s Bay are all within a 25-mile drive.
