The whole coastline is famous for its uncrowded sandy beaches, which offer sunbathing activities in high season and fabulous bracing walks year round. There are also a series of nature reserves on the doorstep, including RSPB managed Titchwell Marsh, with lagoons providing a home to nesting birds such as marsh harriers, bitterns and avocets. There are also boat trips available to Scolt Head from the pretty harbour at Brancaster Staithe. There are many National Trust properties and stately homes to visit too, including Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall, a fine mansion close to Holkham Beach where Shakespeare In Love was filmed, and Sandringham Estate, which is open to the public when the Royals are not in residence. For more traditional seaside fun, head to Hunstanton with its beach, which really does seem to stretch for miles, trips out to see the seals, a Sea Life Centre and fun fair. In the other direction, and in sharp contrast, lies the quaint quay resort of Wells-next-the-Sea with its artisan shops and tea rooms.
