To the west lies Bury St Edmunds, with its cathedral, abbey gardens and lively market. Further west is racing at Newmarket and Cambridge. Wander south and enjoy the picturesque ’Wool Towns’, Lavenham, Constable Country, the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, Colchester’s award winning zoo, boating at Thorpeness and the Saxon village at West Stow.
